For the first time in 12 years I am breaking two traditions for the TCMS. Each year the shoot is held at different locations; although some ranges were visited two or more times, it has never happened in consecutive years. But because my life has been a bit wonky lately I just dont have the energy for the research and recon.
The other broken tradition is the name change. This year we will also honor my co-cat herder, NYTexan, and my beloved husband, Eaker; both of these fine men passed away within days of each other this past March.
Therefore, the shoot will mirror last years shoot. I spoke with the folks at Cherokee Village Resort this afternoon and temporarily reserved the entire place for October 19 ~ 22, 2017. Tomorrow I will call and confirm those dates, then post the final date to make your reservations. When calling to make a reservation, mention that you are with the TexasCowboy group. You will have to make a deposit equal to a one night stay.
The shoot will be held at Hicksville Gun Range, in Gatesville, starting at 10:00 a.m. on the 21st. Where once again we can enjoy the range dogs, the owners and lunch provided by our own cook, cpdiii.
humblegunner has volunteered to make some containers in which to place Eakers ashes, which will be attached to containers of tannerite so that we can all blow Eakers ashes into the wind. It will be an epic send off!
I will be there with the brisket.
The good news I is off that week and weekend:-)
The bad news (maybe) we will have to see what the medical results look like:-(
Nothing serious, fortunately, and I am pretty confident that Mrs alfa6 and I will have them behind us but you never know how long the insurance will want to drag out the preliminaries.
Looking forward to getting down youder, especially this year!

Gosh I hate it myself ☺
Heck I might make a “Pig Picking Cake”!
Prolly wont cuz you need to refrigerate it
Dont recall what the galley is like at Cherokee village
Our house had a regular oven and stove.
Maybe the pavillion too but I don't recall.
Anyways, whatever you could do at home you could do in the cabins I figure.
A Plink Fest in Texas....
I might have to HitchHike!
I know there is a fridge in the pavilion, don’t recall a stove but I bet one is there.
Hell, man.. I know for a fact there’s a full range just stepping into the cabin right there.. like 30 feet.
Looks like I’m on the hook for cake.
You got them pots made?
Not yet, nor the crate to hold ‘em.
Soon though.
It’ll get done for sure and double sure.
You’ll need 40 pots.
I have 40 charges of Tannerite.
You have all summer LOL
Thank you kindly kind sir.
The Mrs probably has the worst of the deal. As I mention earlier nothing terribly serious BUT any time they have to work on you you never know.
Should have some info on if and when the surgery will take place by middle of June hoping I am.
As for myself I think the PT may eliminate the need for me to have surgery. I have a questionable disc in my neck. If the exercises work I won’t need to be worked on.
Hope springs eternal, eh?

If he weren't so dang mean!
Awesome that you will probably be there! Prayers that whatever the medical issue is, that it is overcome and healing is fast!
Prayers for all concerned.
I have 3 of those rogue disks, and they dropped me on my head when I was born.
Hope you all feel better soon.
Can’t remember if the pavilion had a stove, but I think there was a fridge. If you need to store it in our cabin, you’re welcome to.
Thank ye kindly Miss LUV:-)
We is trying, lord is we trying.
