Republicans Suddenly Sweating Election in Deep-Red Kansas District
The Hill ^ | 44/07/17 | MAX GREENWOOD

Posted on 04/08/2017 11:05:58 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Vice President Pence is stepping into Kansas's special House election, recording a robocall urging Republican voters to cast their ballots for the party's congressional nominee on Tuesday, the Washington Examiner reported on Friday.

The robocall comes amid shaky support for Kansas State Treasurer Ron Estes, who is running against Democrat James Thompson to fill the House seat vacated by Mike Pompeo, who is now President Trump's CIA director.

President Trump won Kansas's 4th District by almost 30 points in November. But Democrats in the district have been energized by the president's low-approval ratings and controversies in his first months in office, leaving Republicans sweating over whether they will be able to hold the seat.

"Ron's run a horrible campaign," a Kansas Republican operative told the Examiner. "Hasn't raised much money, his ads are abysmal — no energy. It's a low turnout special and weird things happen."

Pence isn't the only high-profile Republican to step in to try to aid Estes. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is expected to make an appearance in Kansas' 4th District on Monday, according to the Kansas City Star.

Another special House race in Georgia's 6th District also has Republicans scrambling for a win. Democrat Jon Ossoff has gained a high-profile in the district and is leading Republican candidates in polls to fill the House seat vacated by Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price.

THIS JUST IN --- Democrats Flip Zero Seats in Four Recent Blue State Special Elections

This latest Democrat slaughter occurred after DNC newbie Perez bragged Democrats would show that their resistance to Trump could be translated into electoral victories.

To add insult to injury, the Minnesota, Connecticut, Virginia Democrat losses are the states Hillary (cough) "won" in the 2016 presidential election.

(cue hysterical laugh machine)

===========================================

2016 election map---Democrats are learning to swim underwater.

==================================================

(HAT TIP DEROY MURDOCK NYPOST 12/26/16)

EXCERPT-----As President Obama concludes his reign of error, his party is smaller, weaker and ricketier than it has been since at least the 1940s. Behold the tremendous power that Democrats have frittered away — from January 2009 through the aftermath of Election Day — thanks to Obama and his ideas:

•Democrats surrendered the White House to political neophyte Donald J. Trump.

•US Senate seats slipped from 55 to 46, down 16 percent.

•US House seats fell from 256 to 194, down 24 percent.

•Democrats ran the Senate and House in 2009. Next year, they will control neither.

•Governorships slid from 28 to 16, down 43 percent.

•State legislatures (both chambers) plunged from 27 to 14, down 48 percent.

•Trifectas (states with Democrat governors and both legislative chambers) cratered from 17 to 6, down 65 percent.

You have just illustrated how the Trump bot swarm has been operating around here for months.

Lakeshark starts it off with a few backhand slaps drawing principled people who choose not to be slandered in silence to respond in self-defense. This enables the posse, this time personified by fantasy writer, to join in and say in effect, "see what a Trump hater he is." Fantasy writers allegations on this thread are typical. In one breath she lies and says, "When you are parroting Hillary's lines to minimize Trump's victories and successes, you undercut your claim not to hate him. If it walks like a duck.."

For the record, I have never knowingly quoted Hillary's lines and never sought out purposely to minimize Trump's victories. That may, of course, have been the unavoidable result of telling the truth.

She compounds the liable by referring to some bizarre group about which I have absolutely no knowledge as though I am responsible for whatever some allegedly Soros funded group says:

Red alert: ShariaBlue caught posting fake rumors about Bannon/Kushner all over pro Trump channel. The goal is to alienate Trump's populist activist base.

It is bad enough to have to defend oneself against what one did not say as shown above but the next tactic is to require the victim to defend himself against precisely the opposite of what he did say:

Most recently in posts #75 fantasy writer accuses me of opposing Trump for his bombing in Syria when precisely the opposite is true. I supported Trump and even said in a recent post, "I applaud him."

Of course, the personal swipe is never completely neglected by these people as fantasy writer cannot refrain from accusing me by innuendo of being a racist.

Your expression "flame bait" is an appropriate way to describe what has been going on here for months. I would like nothing better than to take your admonition to "move on" but one cannot do so under this sort of really scurrilous attack and expect to be taken seriously.

Fortunately, events are opening the eyes of many fellow conservatives concerning Donald Trump when he departs from his promises or when he governs as something other than a conservative. Events are alerting them to the tactics we see here.

Please stop being a nattering nabob of negativism...

Are you sure it's a good idea to be quoting Spiro Agnew on FR?

Keep attacking me, keep dodging the merits and watch more and more conservatives peel away from mindless cultish devotion to personality over policy.

‘For the record, I have never knowingly quoted Hillary’s lines and never sought out purposely to minimize Trump’s victories.’

That’s the scary part. Your alignment against Trump matches Hillary’s and her supporters’s so precisely, you echo their comments word for word without even knowing you’re doing it. I know of no other conservative who does this.

Try not to be so sensitive. When I first read that Nathan Bedford was a near-charter member of the KKK, I was shocked and amazed. You are the only poster I know who throws up a photo of a former KKK member with every post. Why you do it is your business. I only note the truth, and let it go at that.

@Fantasywriter,

Thanks for bringing out that information about ShareBlue. I did not know that.

I knew the Soros/Hillary/Obama axis has attempted not only astroturf, but demoralization campaigns, but didn’t know ShareBlue was part of it.

You’re welcome. If you can tolerate the language, you can pick up all kinds of info on The_Donald (link below). For example, today they are highlighting the fact that the governor of Montana just vetoed a bill outlawing Sharia. Hard to believe, isn’t it?

You accuse me of something that I can only disprove by proving a negative. I called you a liar for this liable once already today, I accuse you of being a liar again. If you can honestly assert that my words are "so precisely" Hillary's you must certainly have them at your disposal to put up on this thread right now or shut the hell up for the lying, passive aggressive little shit that you are.

If we lose this election it will be because John Koskinen is still head of the IRS. Why does it take so long to fire all the Obama people?

If you’d like a civil, informative reply, you’ll have to clean up your language. Your descent into childish name calling is sad to see, and does you no credit.

Someone tell me: what are these new policies the Dems are offering that are going to turn the tables on Republicans? What is this new reality that connects democrats to the same voters who rejected them the last election.

We are told now that Obamacare is suddenly popular. Really, they have lost everything to running on, and even away from, Obamacare. But now because of Soros ginned up protestors we are to believe that isn’t the case? If protestors were showing up at these events mad at the Republicans for not doing something about Obamacare, I could see that. But protesting getting rid of it. Come now, that is Mr. Obama trying everything to protect his crappy legacy.

We are also now told that Trump wasn’t really popular at all. As a matter of fact, doesn’t this all really amount to one big “damn you idiots, we told you Trump could not win, you didn’t believe us, so now we are going to continue to tell you that Trump can’t win until you believe us.”

“Republicans in Trouble” for effing goodness sake that story was written already, dusted off and recycled. When, according to our “friends” in the media and our betters like Charles Krauthammer and Bill Kristol aren’t the Republicans in trouble?

We get it Trump sucks, he can’t win, nominating him will be a disaster, electing him a disaster, Trump as President a disaster, supporting him a disaster, those who have face disaster!! Did we mention disaster is coming? Man the lifeboats! Iceberg ahead!

Color me fatigued.

Meanwhile, the media will move onto the next worst case scenario to add to their disaster stories.

Thank you. So many here on FR need safe space lately. They are easily sway by the propaganda spewed out by the mainstream media daily. Some here should disengage from politics and enjoy life.

Exactly. I was reading Fox’s wall to wall coverage on the supposed angry town hall protests. Buried in their own reporting about the protests erupting at town halls was some proof that the protests are fake. The number one thing these supposed spontaneous protestors are rising up to complain about is the link between Trump and Russia. Hmmm, there is a real policy issue right there.

But hey, “Republicans in Trouble” it’s the only story around.

Please. I disputed your claim that the lying Leftist communist-aligned Boston Globe has more credibility than Trump/Trump’s inner circle, and I disagreed with your claim that Trump and his hand-picked spokesperson are on par with Bagdad Bob re honesty and integrity. Neither dispute came anywhere close to being an “attack.”

There is attacking (and I am sorry you were) and then there is frustration. Someone here posted that we should be aware because liberals are “motivated and agitated.” For goodness sakes, when aren’t liberals agitated? When aren’t they looting, rioting, protesting and shouting down those they disagree with?

I look at what Scott Walker faced in Wisconsin. He gets elected and enacts his agenda. Oh noes!!! The left went nuts, was “motivated.” Recall Walker!! Hit the streets and chant “this is how democracy works!!”’ Hell, storm the state capitol and prevent business from being conducted. Assault and threaten with death a legislator or two. The result? Wisconsin is trending red.

The only thing that can stop or hurt Republicans in Republican safe districts is Republicans. Most of the news stories now about Republicans being in trouble in these districts are citing these protests as evidence. And what are the protestors “mad” about? Why, repealing the wildly popular Obamacare and congress not connecting Trump to Russia. Yep, those are two issues Republican voters care about right there.

Now, tell me that Republicans are sitting out the election or voting democrat because they are mad at not repealing OCare, then I believe it. But after less than 100 days? Again, I am skeptical that the voters will turn on Trump that fast.
