would like to express my gratitude to Jared Kushner for reviving interest in my 2006 book, The Price of Admission. I have never met or spoken with him, and it’s rare in this life to find such a selfless benefactor. Of course, I doubt he became Donald Trump’s son-in-law and consigliere merely to boost my lagging sales, but still, I’m thankful.
My book exposed a grubby secret of American higher education: that the rich buy their underachieving children’s way into elite universities with massive, tax-deductible donations. It reported that New Jersey real estate developer Charles Kushner had pledged $2.5m to Harvard University not long before his son Jared was admitted to the prestigious Ivy League school, which at the time accepted about one of every nine applicants. (Nowadays, it only takes one out of 20.)

How the F did Obama get into Harvard? Nobody knows how or who paid for him or what he did? Nobody even remember seeing him in classes at Harvard.

No news outlet has successfully chased down Obama’s glided path, but the likelihood of affirmative action and pulled strings is obvious. (And whatever happened to Stanley Kurtz, who was at least on the trail of it IIRC back in the day?)
This Kushner scam is pretty common and was pretty easily exposed here, however. This is good and important for those who somehow think because of his Harvard degree Jared is smarter than he is. I’m glad to see it published.

We perpetuate the myth about these so called schools. They accept enough students with high scores so that they can claim to be intellectually elite, but they are indeed the “good old boys clubs”. I am glad that I decided to go to a state school instead of the Ivy League college where I was accepted.

My daughter-in-law is a blonde, blue eyed white girl. She started her college career at Penn but decided to transfer closer to home. She was accepted at Harvard with a 4.0 from Penn and graduated at the top of her class. When I look through her yearbook she stands out like a sore thumb.
That Muslim kid who wrote the #BlackLivesMatter a hundred times and got into Stanford goes to an elite, $40k/year private school in Princeton, NJ, his dad is a hedge hind manager, etc. He’s a high-profile kid and there are pictures of him with Hillary Clinton and I think he gave a TED talk. The BLM was just a stunt but his application package includes a lot of accomplishments, good test scores, and a top prep school education. AND an Arabic (Muslim )name.
