Thank you, Mr Trump! First images of damage at Assad's burnt-out airbase emerge as tearful Syrians

Complete Headline: Thank you, Mr Trump! First images of damage at Assad’s burnt-out airbase emerge as tearful Syrians cheer US missile raid

These are the first images of the carnage caused by Donald Trump's Tomahawk barrage on al-Assad's badly damaged airbase as Syrians thanked the President for the raid.

US missiles appear to have shattered hangars, destroyed at least nine Syrian jets, weapons and a fuel store, as well as leaving left giant craters in the runway at al-Shayrat military airfield near Homs.

Its radar system and surface-to-air missile defences were also damaged - but crucially the laser-guided missiles avoided the Sarin stores there.

Ditto! How do we even know there are sarin stores there? I’m sceptical to say the least. The fact that Turkey verified Assad wass behind the chemical attack does not make me feel better.

This sends a message to Assad.
It also sends a message to Putin, Rouhani, Xi, Kim, and so on.

Trump can either follow this up with nothing, continuing his stated policies, or he can recruit Putin and act to quickly depose Assad. As long as he doesn’t get in to a protracted involvement, he is golden.

Trump wins.

(In the mean time, he’ll be getting many other things done.)

Turkey is our enemy. They are lying filthy savages, at least their ruler and his son.

Turkey is eyeing Syria as the first step to reconstituting the Ottoman Empire.

Much has changed in Donald Trump’s life over the past nearly four years. He was not president in 2013 ... and did not see this opinion as a responsibility — until he ran for, won then realized what he would need to do, as President, to Make America Great Again.

Turkey openly encourages ISIS. Erdogan is creating his own mini caliphate in Turkey. He would love to see the rebels take over Syria. They would kill all remaining Christians and then quickly fall to ISIS. If Assad goes down look for ISIS to take over.

‘Remember what Trump said to the media....”I’m not going to tell you what I’m going to do!”’

Yeah, but he told the Russians, who told Assad. How is this a good move is beyond me.

“tearful Syrians cheer US missile raid”

______________________________________________

I am very happy to hear that.

I was watching Fox News this a.m.; apparently the technology on these Tomahawk missiles is amazing. Best military in the world!

And kudos to President Trump for telling the Russians to evacuate. He didn’t want to kill anyone; he just wanted to eliminate the Syrians’ capacity to kill their own people in a horrible way.

IMHO: It’s what Eisenhower would have done. Ike was truly a peace monger.

So in Syria it’s a sovereign nation of Syria allied with Russia vs ISIS and we choose to bomb the sovereign country. That sounds legit. Funny how all Trump haters love him today (for all the wrong reasons). It would be nice to see concrete evidence for the mission. So now we have special operations and other conventional US forces within Syria wedged between multiple opposing forces ground and airspace. What side are we on now and what is our overall strategy and mission with exit plan? Lybia was given to ISIS by America and NATO and gave Europe a refugee crisis, Iraq was only a few $trillion with over 4500 KIA with it now worse off than before Saddam considering ISIS controls major regions we spilled blood for. Removing Assad plays into the hands of the ISIS ideology of caliphate and it will be a bloody humanitarian crisis beyond what it is now. WTH are we doing? Congress should be asking these questions.

Let’s face it, he was a very weird man. Even beyond his idiotic racial theories, unique genocidal cruelty, megalomania, artistic dilettantism, pseudo scientific gibberish, amateurish military science, and flatulence, the guy was bound by inscrutable codes.

Yeah, he did. He most definitely did. Although I often wonder if putin/assad supporters would say that he did.

Here is the Russian drone video of the damage:

https://www.rt.com/news/383912-russia-mod-drone-syria-airbase/

Six MiG-23 fighter jets were destroyed that were sitting on the tarmac. However, many bunkered hangars were hit and they would have contained many aircraft and critical maintenance operations.

Agreed. I posted this earlier:

“Exactly my take. Now, he’s probably going to double down and send another volley into ISIS.

Then, when the world is reeling, he’s going to hold a joint press conference with the Chinese president announcing that Kim Jon Un and leadership have been removed from power

...and a transitive coalition between the Norkies and the Chinacoms has been established in the interm.”

One can dream. Let’s just see.

Russia will not strike back—but Hezballa and Iran is a different story. ISIS too will hit back—I think our troops in Syria might be in danger—and pay a price for our attack. i look to see a counter stroke soon. It will be more than a single attack and come from both Islamic Republican Guards, Terrorists, Lone wolf truck drivers, and Syrian Nationalists.
The next week will be a nail biter.

This is a tough one.

On the one hand the people who are praising Trump are John McCain, Hillary Clinton, George Bush, the neo-cons, CNN, the New York Times, the Saudis, the Islamist rebels in Syria, ySunni fanatics, the Israelis and Uncle Tom Cobnley.

Meanwhile the people who have doubts about it are about 50 percent of the people who made the effort to vote for Donald Trump in a Tuesday back in November.

Hmm, yeah it’s tough to decide who is right on this issue and no mistake.
