Reporter: "Senator Rand Paul has called the reports that Susan Rice ordered the unmasking of Trump's associates a "smoking gun", does the President agree with that characterization and what does he think of these reports?"
Spicer: "There is an ongoing investigation, that we have supported, looking into this matter. I will say there is a troubling direction that some of this is going in. But we're going to let this review go on before we jump to [conclusions]."

Don’t hold your breath. “Troubling direction” could also indicate a dead-end or blockade. I’m hoping ms.rice is just the tip of the iceberg and she’ll sing like a canary. But.... need I say more?
It’s the LEAK that was illegal, unless there was other sharing of the info not related to Intelligence or Law enforcement.
The unmasking itself was not illegal.
When intellegence is collected while monitoring foreign nations, any Americans picked up are supposed to be “masked.” That means their conversation is supposed to kept secret from the public. It’s a felony to release the conversations of American citizens.
Rice is accused of unmasking Americans’ conversation(s) (Flynn and maybe more) which is illegal (a felony). We don’t know for sure if it was her or not right now.
The unmasked conversation(s) were picked up by intelligence while they were monitoring calls with Russia.
But it is also said some Trump conversations did not involve foreign monitoring at all. Agents were said to be just listening into Trump and his team. That would probably be illegal for the agents to do that without a warrant. Chances are they would not get a warrant spying on citizens; whereas they would most likely get a warrant to monitor Russian communications.
Hope that helps. : )
Don’t hold your breathe for a Democrat to ever be held to the rule of law. Law is for the deplorables. Not the beautiful people. : )
It was an odd statement and sounds like something someone who could NEVER like Trump, no matter what he does, would say.
“”Dont hold your breathe for a Democrat to ever be held to the rule of law.””

No. The actual legal threshold for unmasking to occur is absurdly low...if there is ANY intelligence value then legally unmasking may occur. To understanding how comically permissive the law truly is, simply recall that the conversations of foreign intelligence targets are inherently of intelligence value. Given the current standard, if a request was made then the unmasking would be almost certainly legal. This is a political scandal, not a legal one.
We’re gonna see an openly fascist america in our lifetime, aren’t we? These leftists won’t ever see reason. They won’t ever look in the mirror. They will never stop.
...Because the left is insane.
If they can’t be in control then they’ll burn the house down.
They’re like political terrorists who despise anything that goes against their dogma.
Like its fine to have disagreements but the left will come after you if you disagree with them, they act in groups to destroy you.

I fear your analysis on this thread is correct, Mariner.
She will probably be impossible to nail criminally.
I guess you eat nothing but hot peppers soaked in vinegar. You must be hell to live with.
Why is it not illegal? If it was legal, then it wouldn’t even be in the news. Everything I’ve read on it, that I can find, makes it appear to be illegal. Wrong, not done, against the law, etc.
If you are in the field and have personal knowledge that it is legal to unmask names of people NOT being targetted by surveillance (even though they actually were targetted, illegal), I’d like to the facts.
But there was nothing to do with Russians, fakeness, lie etc. So wouldn’t that make the unmasking illegal on its face. Seems as though everything downstream from initial surveillance would also be illegal.
All his comments are in that same vein of angry/crazy.
I’m sure no one thinks that!
No immunity to any of them.
