Marvel Comics arent doing well. Sales have declined, even as Marvel has pushed out every major event and crossover it can over the past two years. In a recent interview during the Marvel Retailer Summit, Marvel VP of Sales David Gabriel decided to ignore all the problems and criticism in order to place the blame on diversity.
What we heard was that people didnt want any more diversity. They didnt want female characters out there. Thats what we heard, whether we believe that or not. I dont know that thats really true, but thats what we saw in sales. We saw the sales of any character that was diverse, any character that was new, our female characters, anything that was not a core Marvel character, people were turning their nose up against.

Ah, the "Social Justice League".
I wonder if NASCAR can claim the same excuse?
Sounds like pandering to the Coast crowds isn’t the best marketing strategy for Marvel after all.
I’m shocked! SHOCKED, I say!

“So then, the market doesnt support women action heroes???”
Not true.
People are rejecting characters that are gay or lezbo.
Simple.
Maybe now they will stop pushing all this Gay crap no one wanted.
“I visited my doctor and SHE said. . .”
I could watch Wonder Woman all day long!
Any questions?
It’s not race or sex — although obviously with superheroes part of the point is a fantasy/pretend thing.
The deal is much simpler: the SJW crowd is very vocal for demanding anti-moral preaching, but in comics like everything else there aren’t really that many of them. Regular people of all types want a story and some fun, not yet another SJW myth shoved down their throats. Regular people don’t do stupid marches or whine on the news; they vote with their dollars and their feet.
The only place the characters are portrayed normally is in the movie/TV universe. It's no wonder their comic book sales have bottomed out. Let's face it; the comics need to be reset, and I mean a hard reset.
They have to completely start over, return the characters to normal, and maybe the sales will return to normal. If not, the comic side of the business will fail.
It’s not that they don’t want diversity. They don’t want exclusion of straight white men to create diversity.
Have black characters.
Have female characters.
Just don’t hands test insert them in by removing popular characters who fail to measure up to progressive demands.
I wouldn’t see a problem if both companies did a factory restart on their characters, with a modern setting, but they would have to put up with a whole lot of whining, because fans want the characters to “mature” and keep developing.
They should have followed the simple rule: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
As a female fan of both Marvel and DC during the 60s, I always preferred Marvel because the Superheroes were so much more Heroic and unabashedly VIRILE.
Ditto.”
Double ditto! My first little girl crush was on Burt Ward. I remember reading Spider-Man back when he had a blonde for a girlfriend.
They looked so happy and the even had royalty with little crowns. So crushing to discover that they were basically bugs. Brine shrimp. An entire generation or two of boys and a few girls utterly crushed. Almost as bad as Santa Claus not being real, lol.”
Not to mention the X-Ray glasses.....
Let me have my characters without screwing them up every 6 months. Everyone else can have their own hero that's a weirdo, if that's what they want to read.

That was difficult for us because we had a lot of fresh, new, exciting ideas that we were trying to get out and nothing new really worked.
I left them in the early 90s for pulling this crap.
