Bad move by Trump. Ryan and the globalist big government GOPe RINOs are the problem not the Freedom Caucus. Trump is supposed to be draining the swamp by now, not swimming in it.
Put the interest of American citizens first! Freedom not socialism and tyranny!!
Good grief! Dump Obamacare already! Should have been done on day one and wed be way on down the road to draining the swamp by now!
We the people have been demanding a full repeal for seven long years and that's the position Trump took with his original health care goal at the beginning of the campaign. What he's doing now is madness and it's quickly destroying any chance of party unity and therefore destroying his chances of accomplishing the rest of hs agenda.
Someone screwed the pooch, BIGLY!
And someone needs to get it back on track, pronto!
This is NOT the decisive action of George S. Patton. Its the confused inaction of George B. Little Mac McClellan!
Where is our U.S. Grant?
Get it together guys or we lose the war.
Do people understand how a Speaker is selected?
A Speaker needs a majority of the whole House. The FC would not vote with the GOP majority to elect Boehner as Speaker in the whole House vote. They had power to punish Boehner in the whole House but not enough to name ANY candidate in the GOP Caucus. Paul Ryan was deemed more acceptable than Kevin McCarthy, and in that the FC was certainly correct.
Freeper "LS" has positively asserted that this is the case.
I was against this Ryan-sponsored bill, but if the HFC didn't negotiate in good faith, that changes the situation "bigly".
As for the American People only supporting the bill at 17%, I bet there's NO bill that could be created that would enjoy majority support, or anything even close.
After all, the support for total repeal is at the same level, 20% or less.
This coalition is fracturing, as evidenced by the fact that the HFC has already lost 1 member since this debacle.
Things are not looking good for anyone but Democrats...
The purpose of Ryancare was to preserve as much of Obamacare as possible.
Fedzilla derives great power from controlling all health care decisions and medical records.
The attendants of Fedzilla in Congress do not want to eliminate all those federal agencies created by Obamacare and reduce Fedzilla’s power.
The Uniparty eunuchs planned to hang Obamacare II around Trump’s neck to make him a one term President so they could get back to business as usual, importing cheap labor and selling out America.
Trump was just looking for a “win”, not seeing that he is siding with those seeking to destroy him and backhanding those who wish him success.
Ryan was only elected Speaker BECAUSE THE FREEDOM CAUCUS VOTED FOR HIM.
It’s simple history, now.
Something you need to know about that 1 member, Ted Poe
Sounds like good evidence. Like so many average, regular people I have a problem believing they want what they say they want. Although I get why Dave Brat is held up as a standard.
I know what the swamp is. It’s just that sometimes I don’t know where it is.
Trump has a bully pulpit he uses. But you go to war with the army you have and not the army you want.
Any follow on beyond Phase 2 (Phase 2 was to be everything Trump did within what the new law allowed) was required to have a Phase 3 voted on. Our concern was that this would never likely happen. Trump and the Freedom Caucus could work to not pass things until Phase 3 passed into law.
You do the best you can, with what you have, where you’re at. Trump would not have gotten the House bill without changes from the Senate, and even then, it likely wouldn’t have passed. But, if this had happened, it would not have been a “Freedom Caucus” or “Club for Growth” issue, but a “Congress” issue.
Yeah, and I voted for George W. Bush twice. He had me fooled. So did Ryan. Ryan, working with that weasel Priebus, shoved this crap forward in a deliberate effort to weaken and discredit Trump. Trump should have asked for a repeal bill, not this ObamaCare 2 junk. Trump is getting bad advice from not only Priebus, but I think Ivanka and Kushner.
Amen. Big leadership gap in the House, and the approach here needs bigger thinking/greater courage than many of the idiots there are capable of.
Firmly believe the first step needs to be a law that sunsets (or slams the door) on Ocare within 6 to 9 months. We can go back to the less-crappy world we had before, and start issuing bills to allow interstate commerce and other reforms asap.
Exactly. But that’s the new line I keep seeing here, that the freedom caucus elected Ryan.
Do you honestly believe Trump is supposed to talk with every separate member in Congress, for every thing?
There were not even 51 votes in the Senate for this crap sandwich.
The Senate would have made it worse, not better, it’s what they do.
Ryan only became Speaker because the Freedom Caucus voted for him.
Period.
If the mandate were eliminated, wouldn’t the whole thing self-destruct?
I don’t doubt that, but Trump never got a bill to sign or not sign.
Yeah, I already read that, thx...
This is very troubling. VERY!!
Yes, the only answer is deregulate, not more government!
