The Democrats are so stupid on this. There will come a time when they will need the filibuster and people would actually support their use of it, but by choosing this battle with this nominee they will force McConnell to do away with it and public support will be with him.

Trump needs to have Judge William Pryor and Diane Sykes in the pipeline if Gorsuch is blocked.

Trump needs to let America's enemies, the demoncraps, know that he intends to kick it up a notch.

The Republicans always give the Democrats their SC justices. The Dems never do.

Time to go nuclear. That’s the only game the Dems understand.

It’s called “going Reid”.

“If Democrats successfully filibuster Gorsuch,...”

Is anyone actually going to make them FILIBUSTER? I mean talk non-stop? And then they would have to get around the two-speech rule, which they can’t. Those two things can be done and not have to get to the Nuke.

There is no requirement for 60 votes. Therefore, must a filibuster be pre-announced as a requirement on a confirmatiin vote? If it is not announced, then the majority vote will win without resort to the nuclear option.

Devos, for example, was not filibustered was she? She won on a straight majority vote.

If Trump and stupid party members in congress can’t get Gorsuch through, they should just hand the government to the dems and go home now.

I would force the democrats to filibuster. Talk until they drop. Then steamroll over them and crush them into the dirt.

Theater. The DEMs are negotiating who will vote to allow the Gorsuch nomination to proceed, so the real showdown is delayed until the next SCOTUS nomination. But Gorsuch will be confirmed. One of those "60 votes for cloture, 55 for confirmation" sort of results.

Even Susan Collins (R-Maine), who like Graham is among three remaining senators from the “Gang of 14” that helped defuse a brewing nuclear battle over judicial nominations a dozen years ago, left the door open to backing the nuclear option.

Thank God for small favors, eh Suzy?

I would be very disheartened if we had to take that step because I’m a strong believer in the rules of the institution wild-eyed, baby-killing RAT.

Gilibrand says she'll vote for him and that he deserves an up and down vote.

She's up and coming.....and Schumer is down and going.

Looking at that picture, I believe enough Dems will follow Gillibrand's lead to confirm Gorsuch.

Absolutely nothing has changed.......we own the three branches of government and the DEMOCRATS are still running this clown show. Hillary and Obama are running the country via Chuck Schumer.

It is very clear to anyone paying attention that the only reason to oppose him is political. That is not valid.

The only way this won’t be fun is if the GOPe caves.

It used to be that the president got some measure of deference from the other party for his nominations unless there was a personal not a policy flaw in the nominee. The now hyperpartisan Democrats have changed that dynamic, so I say that, unfortunately, the filibuster, a product of a different era, has to go to try to avoid total deadlock over appointments.

I hope they do. Their are some very senior liberal justices that more than likely will be replaced during Trumps tenure
