Kushner’s ambitions for what the new office can achieve are grand. At least to start, the team plans to focus its attention on reimagining Veterans Affairs; modernizing the technology and data infrastructure of every federal department and agency; remodeling workforce-training programs; and developing “transformative projects” under the banner of Trump’s $1 trillion infrastructure plan, such as providing broadband Internet service to every American.

In some cases, the office could direct that government functions be privatized, or that existing contracts be awarded to new bidders.

The office will also focus on combating opioid abuse, a regular emphasis for Trump on the campaign trail. The president later this week plans to announce an official drug commission devoted to the problem that will be chaired by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R). He has been working informally on the issue for several weeks with Kushner, despite reported tension between the two.

Good grief. This is getting worse than watching the W Bush administration.

Note how the RINO/GOPe Priebus is now cast as a hardline conservative, and Trump is handing over power to the Democrats—Kushner and Cohn, most notably—in (and outside) his administration.

The last Democrat within a presidential administration to lead a task force on reinventing government, complete with input from business leaders, was Al Gore:

Step 1: Discover you can and must fire the bottom 50% of Federal workers
Step 2: Discover you’re not allowed to fire any Federal workers
Step 3: Recommend another blue-ribbon commission
Step 4: Goto Step 1

Jared: Careful. What Nietzsche wrote will be true in multiple ways here:

Luckily we don’t have to worry about rinocare anymore because now we are stuck with the job killing obamacare. And when it crashes we may even end up with single payer but at least we didn’t pass rinocare.

I wish I lived in a world where every presidential pick was 100% conservative and every initiative had a perfect outcome. Until that magic day arrives I will continue to thank God for the leader we elected, flaws and all...

Big mistake on the Trumpster’s part. The kid is still wet behind the ears. Just because he was born with a silver spoon doesn’t make him an expert. Trump needs political insiders around him that know he ins and outs of DC politics. A Dick Cheney, a Newt or a Giulianni would be a good start.

I always believe everything the WaPo writes about. I had to do a double take because I thought this was FR. Instead I got what looks like the dump.

Media is salivating now because they have us right where they want us. And it took only 2 months!

I’m not sure what to think of this.

Back in December before Trump even took office, the media was desperately trying to turn Trump’s base against him in a play to divide and conquer.

But Trump’s moves in the past week have been curious and troubling.

while I know his strategics are part of his specialty, I can’t help but be unnerved by a lot of it.

His tweet about conservatives, his support of that disaster healthcare bill, him putting immigration on the back burner...hell, even his move to give Preibus the COS position...I don’t like it and I don’t get it.

He’s out there blaming Democrats and Conservatives for the American Care Act failing. yo, dude, you can blame us, the people who put you in office. WE demanded our representatives do what we put them there to do. Take the hint.

I remember this when Al Gore did it.

Seriously, Kushner may be a brilliant guy and a great guy. But in the real world, he would be hoping to make junior partner right about now.

In the Trump White House, he is reinventing government AND brining peace to the Middle East. I mean, if the dude succeeds, we should just make him President for Life, shouldn’t we?

I like and support President Trump..... but I hate this move.

I’m sorry but Kushner is too cosy with the Washington DC Establishment.

I don’t like this move at all. Hope President Trump proves me wrong.

Sorry, but we have a multitude of ‘think-tanks’\groups that do this type of thing FREELY already!?

Dust ‘em off\pull ‘em from the circular file and put them into ACTION.

I can only think he’s getting bad advice, or allowing shills to run the works. I can’t see biz. man duplicating work that was given away.

The innovation office has a particular focus on technology and data, and it is working with such titans as Apple chief executive Tim Cook, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Salesforce chief executive Marc Benioff and Tesla founder and chief executive Elon Musk.

Garbage in = garbage out.
