Today I was thinking about that great movie "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" and so I watched it on On Demand. I have never seen the whole movies only snippets of it from time to time. But today I decided to really sit down and watch it all and I am very glad that I did.
Even though this movie was made in 1939 I was struck by how topical it was. The same old crooked dealings were going on way back then. In the movie there was a corrupt political machine that controlled a whole state. This machine was funded by a corrupt business man who hand picked the politicians and was facilitated by the media which was also controlled by this man. Today, if you were to say that the corporatists, politicians and media were all working together you would be called a conspiracy theorist but this movie shows how it works. Money is the means that buys both politicians and the media, this is how it has always been. The movie was made back in 1939 imagine how much worse things have gotten since then. Dealing with politics is like keeping house, you have to take out the trash every week. You cannot take it out once a year or every ten years. You have to stay on top of it or it will accumulate and it will really start to smell.
Watch this movie and show it to your kids and grandkids. They will learn much from it and you can point out some of the crooked political tactics that are mentioned in the movie. This move is well worth buying on dvd.
Mr. Smith probably never barged in on top aids molesting children either.

Watched it several times. That movie was suppressed by the movie studio because of the message and pressure coming from the politicians. Truth is hated by the evil people. It was word of mouth which made that movie into a classic.
Control of information was and is crucial to power and control. Our newspapers were basically controlled since JP Morgan bought all the major APs in the early 1900s and Rothschild completely owned Reuters in the 1800s. Like their foundations-—just money-launderning machines to buy up control of all publishing companies, politicians, universities/research centers and ALL mainline “churches”. Control of EVERYTHING is the goal for Mind Control of the masses, which affects “culture” and *What* people *know* and *what* people *see* will control what they “feel” and “think”. It is really all programmed and through repetition and lies repeated over and over, most people have NO IDEA of truth and no ability for free will (choice) since they only are lied to 24/7. Only Truth sets us free and only Truth will give us Wisdom (knowledge which is power).
That movie was a Wake-Up “call” but people went right back to sleep after the communists basically destroyed the truth-teller Sen. McCarthy and ruined his name as a lesson to ANYONE who wanted to have power in Washington DC. Lesson learned, esp. after JFK was eliminated because he warned of the secret societies (the Deep State): Mess with the Marxists and you get destroyed and lose all power and any fame/ability to have power in the culture.

We call them Communists but it was really the Globalists all along. They invented the mind control tactics of Communism but the Globalists have many faces and wear many masks.

Senator McCarthy’s name has been vindicated by the Venona cables and the now available senate records.
ALL conservatives should read Blacklisted by History by M Stanton Evans for a detailed and accurate accounting of the McCarthy investigations. Our government was indeed infested with communists.
All of us need to be prepared to vigorously defend Senator McCarthy’s good name from attacks by those ignorant of history. We owe him that much. He gave his life to the cause of defending America, dying at just 43 from alcoholism. The result of relentless torment by the Left.

Excellent book out on James Stewart war time service.
What you see in the movie probably is what you would get with the real James Stewart. I believe he retired a Brigadier General from the Air Force. A true hero! Like other WW2 veterans he never talked about his service record.
I like your suggestion to buy that DVD - and just recently, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) has been advertising their library .. and now I think I’m going to check it out .. and see if they have that DVD.
I have the Venona papers and Blacklisted by History. What the media could tell us if they wanted to.
By the way, we have to find a substitute for the expression “McCarthyism”. We shoot ourselves in the foot when we use that term. The Left puts their words into our mouths and we keep their ideology alive by repeating THEIR words.
Joseph McCarthy was betrayed by Washington. They were b@st@rds even back then.
