Texas Republican Ted Poe Quits Freedom Caucus Over Their #NeverTrump Intransigence…
Conservative Treehouse ^

Posted on 03/26/2017 2:50:01 PM PDT by hotsteppa

Texas Republican Congressman Ted Poe has announced he is giving up membership in Hillary’s Favorite Caucus over their unwillingness to support President Trump:

“I have resigned from the House Freedom Caucus,” Poe said in a statement. “In order to deliver on the conservative agenda we have promised the American people for eight years, we must come together to find solutions to move this country forward. Saying no is easy, leading is hard, but that is what we were elected to do.

Leaving this caucus will allow me to be a more effective Member of Congress and advocate for the people of Texas. It is time to lead.” “Some only want to be the party of ‘no’ & would’ve voted against the 10 commandments,”

Congressman Poe’s exit from #NeverTrump leaves 29 remaining members.

The promise has been to repeal. The “replace” was always a bit fuzzy. Once they came out with their bill, it has looked like their intent was to kick the rock down the road until after the 2018 elections. And then maybe kick it down the road again.

From the beginning GOPe have said that they wanted to “keep the good parts” of Obamacare. Ryancare looked a lot like that was what they were doing. They did not include Trump’s signature promise to let insurers sell across state lines. They were going to spend a couple of years deleting bad regulations (as opposed to repealing all of them at once, which we had expected them to do) and then, later, maybe way later, see if they could get Dem support for “replace”.

I think most people have been nervous seeing Trump so reliant on Ryan. At least, I have.

I have to say about the freedom caucus is that we don’t need rubber stamps on legislation and it gladdens my heart not to see the rubber stamp. if this congressman feels the caucus is not serving the needs of his constituents then he is doing what he was elected to do. my hope is that others look at him leaving the caucus and ask if a rethink is needed and when they as a caucus have answered that question hopefully they will correct anything that needs to be corrected if any is needed. the last thing we need is the power of a caucus rubber stamping legislation. I think no mater how much any of us like trump we still need to Add to question anything he or any other politician does. doing this only leads to better legislation.

Paul Ryan was primaried in Wisconsin. Donald Trump endorsed Paul Ryan for reelection.

Only one member of the Republican Caucus voted against Ryan for Speaker in 2017, Kentucky’s Tom Massie, a member of the Freedom Caucus.

Here’s a repeal bill that the HFC would have voted for, but it is stuck in committee.

Yes, it would be filibustered by Senate Dems, but even so, we would end up in exactly the same situation we are now in with respect to Obamacare. And the Dems would be SOLE owners.

“The bill was not just introduced by Rep. King, but according to the text of the bill, it was also sponsored by “Mr. Massie, Mr. Bilirakis, Mr. Gibbs, Mr. Amash, Mr. Carter of Texas, Mr. Stewart, Mr. Jody B. Hice of Georgia, Mr. Palazzo, Mr. Byrne, Mr. Duncan of South Carolina, Mr. Franks of Arizona, Mr. Gohmert, Mr. Newhouse, Mr. Cole, Mr. Sanf’ord, Mr. Farenthold, Mr. Meadows, Mr. Olson, Mr. Babin, Mr. DesJarlais, Mr. Westerman, Mr. Aderholt, and Mr. Duncan of Tennessee.”

A problem w/ NO solution, as it permeates govt at ALL levels. Not even a ConCon would dare to touch it, as it would then case light on the next ‘tier’ down...

I agree, though. It would’ve been nice if SOMEone in the HFC had proposed a simpler plan.
>

Oh, those past SIX that passed sure went down the memory hole awful quick, no?

Not so quick for the electorate I believe. Watch for a lot of ‘missed’/cancelled Town Hall Meetings...too many hard questions to answer.

I mean, c’mon, The Constitution is all of what?, a couple thousand words?

Does every Bill really need to be a couple thousand pages?

Come now, don’t kid. We all know the ONLY reason for the Britannica bills is so every bottom-feeding, ambulance chasing, low-life lawyer (I really repeated myself there) has a barn-side to hit for the revolving door of the Judicial system.

Precisely\minimally worded law leaves NO ‘wiggle-room’ in the courtroom.

Does anyone know why this poster hasn’t been banned? She spent years defending and shilling for obama. She lied to the site owner’s face about supporting Palin [NG spent as much time cheerleading for Big Government/the DC Elites as she spent legitimizing Obama; no Palin supporter ever did that].

Last but hardly least, NG cut and pasted straight from Fogbow onto FR. If anyone cares to read the lies and rabid smears Fogbow has posted about FR and its owner, they will grasp the issue.

NG is a moonbat Leftist Obot troll. And still her posts are welcome.

Why?

Like the term Tea Party, the term conservative has been usurped and corrupted. Nearly every GOP candidate in the 2016 primaries claimed to be conservative. Most of the Republican pundits/commentators claim to be conservative. Most of the amnesty pushers claim to be conservative.

So, who/what is a real conservative? Romney's severely conservative? Or GW Bush's compassionate conservative? Or Jeb Bush's reform conservative?

They define it however they want and that has diluted the meaning and the intent -- just like what happened to The Tea Party.

Saying no to crap sandwiches is leadership. Saying no to unconstitutional legislation is may be politically difficult, but guess what? It is called keeping one’s oath of office.

So yes, I agree with you 100%.

There is nothing unconstitutional about voting for a snake for Speaker. Unadvisable yes.

Voting against unconstitutional crap sandwich legislation is every Congressman’s duty

Because, by themselves, the Freedom Caucus lacks the votes to evict Ryan. Period!

And that’s unfortunate for us all.

Low Information Voters elected Trump !

Trump (a New York SOCIALIST) works with Ryan (a SOCIALIST and a RINO) and works with McConnell (a SOCIALIST and a RINO), who both have NO SPINE and LOATHE Trump, and only want Trump DEFEATED; ... and we expect them to give us back our FREEDOM OF CHOICE for Health Care ????

So ... Just HOW STUPID ARE the "Low-Information Voters" ????

This is the second time I've seen you use this same exact reply in a post.

Are you some liberal using another member's name and login credentials?

Calling Freepers low info voters is pretty darn ignorant too. Also; Trump is most definitely not a socialist.

Something is really off here. I'm including the administrator and JR to see if they see the same thing.

Please read my post 75. Ryan set as a condition for his accepting the Speakership that he must have the backing of the FC. They could at least publicly ask him if that requirement still holds, or whether he’s willing to cling to the office in the face of their united opposition.

“Did Trump give the Freedom Caucus the concessions it wanted only to say they wanted more?”

It appears that way. I don’t think they were bargaining in good faith, which is why they are now on Trump’s sh!tlist. Paul Ryan, i believe, is also not on good terms with the President, given his plug of Piro’s show where she led off saying Ryan has to go.

Ryan is probably safe given that no one else seems to to wants the job so Trump is going to reach out to Democrats. Its on to tax reform. If it passes, Trump will gain some much needed cred; if it fails, his presidency will be in deep trouble.

FC is being demonized for going against Trumpcare (Obamacare 2.0).

Ok. So what’s the plan, Stan? Where’s the bill, biff? Got a whip count for me on an obamacare repeal bill the freedom caucus is going to pass? Nope. Couldn’t even get it out of committee. So we’ll just get more beltway kabuki from do nothing virtue signalling “conservatives”.

“...Just as soon as the FC starts leading the charge for a more conservative Speaker, I’ll be their biggest cheerleader.

But not before.”
*********************************
So, in your fantasy, how many RINO/CINO votes are you planning to bring to the effort? Much to the detriment of America, the Freedom Caucus is a small minority in the house. Most of the RINOs & CINOs campaign as if they would be Freedom Caucus members but, sure as hell, don’t vote that way after they’re elected.

Ryan, the Chamber of Commerce, all the RINOs & ‘RATS are going to end up giving us Amnesty, GIANT doors in whatever walls are built and a bigger welfare state. But you, and many others here, do not have the vision to see where this is headed.
