AHCA was pulled from the floor yet again this afternoon, and it now is probable that Obamacare will be the law of the land for years to come. This is an utter disaster for U.S. health care, not to mention individual liberty, and the responsibility rests squarely on shoulders of a small cadre of political opportunists with the effrontery to call themselves the House Freedom Caucus.
These people held out for the impossible full repeal of Obamacare in one fell swoop and have thus destroyed the only realistic opportunity their party will have in the near future to eradicate the laws individual and employer mandates, enact entitlement reform, expand HSAs, defund Planned Parenthood, halt the metastasis of Medicaid, and cut its myriad taxes.
Moreover, they have made a mockery of their groups name by perpetuating the increasingly oppressive and powerful administrative state, leaving their constituents to the tender mercies of Beltway bureaucrats whose contempt for the taxpayers who support them is exceeded only by the breathtaking incompetence with which they mismanage everything they touch.

You're just pissed because you wanted those cuts respent somewhere else.
Time after time after time, republicans have colluded with the libs, passing bad laws, saying that the fixes were just a bit down the road. But those fixes never came. That’s just the way DC works. So voting for a bad bill to be fixed at a later date was exactly what the swampy pubbies would do, time after time. All that led to were a lot of bad bills becoming bad laws.
If this bill were to rescue obamacare from itself, obamacare now would have been the responsibility of President Trump and the republicans. While the media and SanFranNan are gloating now, nothing they will be able to say or do will protect them from the fact that it’s the dem’s ugly baby.
While Barky was in office, he continually illegally “kicked the can down the road,” delaying the pain it was designed to cause until the elections were over, and he was out of office.
He depended on Clinton’s election to continue the illegal changes in the law.
Remember when the dems said, “you break it, you own it?” Withdrawing the bill means that the dems STILL own obamacare.

ObamaCare won’t destroy a nation. The continued, annual invasin of 1.4 million 3rd world, jihadist, and America-hating migrants will. Trump needs to put this aside and build the damn wall, find and deport as many visa overstays and other illegals as possible, and crush the ACLU/DNC/SPLC/NCLR axis under his foot. If he fails, America as we’ve known her will not survive.
They did Trump a favor not passing Ryancare.
The author is an idiot.
We should never forget how many Republican Representatives only do what their Corporate Masters demand.
In the case of Health Insurance the Corporate Masters would like to get rid of the cost of supplying Health Insurance to their employees and instead let the Federal Government handle it.
The Corporate Masters want their Republican Representatives to pass laws that lower their cost of doing business. eg. lower corporate taxes, reduce regulations, or move health insurance from the corporate books to the government books.
In almost all countries the government taxes people for health insurance/care. The USA is unique in having the Corporate Masters providing most of the health insurance.
No, putting illegals healthcare above veterans is astounding which is precisely what the management amendment in this bill did. I am sure you are all about marching vets to the VA gulag, but thank God there are those who aren’t.
Exactly. There are a lot of noobs here spouting nonsense lately.
The original Obamacare bill included $500 billion in Medicare cuts over 10 years. The GOP in 2010 ran on a platform of restoring those spending cuts. They won ... and they restored that spending. So please forgive me if I take any claims of “GOP cuts in government spending” with a huge grain of salt.
What are you bent out of shape about? They got rid of a bill the would have rewarded illegals and punished older Americans.
“If you have the facts on your side, pound the facts. If you have the law on your side, pound the law. If you have neither on your side, pound the table.”
Exactly right. Put up the bill ALL had voted for before. The RINOs are the ones who would not now vote conservative and they never EVER will. Don’t forget the conservative candidates that won primaries the past few years. The RInos were eager to support 3rd party or the Dem. Remember, only a few months ago how adamant they were against Trump. They are the obstacles. How can conservative principles and thought ever going to gain ground if it is not allowed to be practiced in government? The Freedom Caucus was where it has always been.
“The authors basic premise here is B.S.”
That’s right. Makes no sense.

How long did it take us to disentangle ourselves from Prohibition after its repeal? The improvements resulting from the the repeal of Obamacare will be almost immediately felt.

TY, 60! Spot on re: knee-pad brigade.
Par1: O’Care repealed (legislation was written and PASSED already to do so). Part2: HSA, State lines, a-la-carte...no part3 needed. But no, nothing that reduces govt influence and benefits the People will be allowed to be passed w/ such SIMPLE legislation.
Want a bit more recent example? How ‘bout the ‘work rules for welfare’?? The ones Zero penned away w/o a PEEP from the (R)NC\GOP (oh, there was an election ad or two...nothing more). How long did that ‘Phase 1’ *last*? Anyone ‘revisit’ since\again??
Ol’ Rushbo was puffing hard on Ryan’s #$%@ yesterday...1/2 loaf, my @ss.
How anyone can believe ANYTHING out of the (R), since they have done *NOTHING* to shrink govt EVERY. TIME. they’ve been the majority....
Based on the tidbits that were available, this newly packaged healthcare was barely any better. I don’t think that there was any intention to make any real improvements. It’s good that some people saw through this nonsense.
If anything needs to happen, it’s that the RINOs like Ryan need to be brought to heel. They are the problem, and the reason something more substantial wasn’t put forth.
Never thought I’d see the day when hardliners were called out by conservatives a going too far.
Many of those things can still be done. You don’t need a complex health care bill to do that. We should drop tort reform from the conversation on a national level. Malpractice cases are filed in state courts, not Federal court. Many states have adopted their own tort reforms, with limited success.
Let the HHS Secretary administratively dismantle it.
My Congressman opposed this bill and he’s not even a Freedom Caucus member. In fact, he is very much a moderate. He never explained why he opposed it but it was obvious to me: ONLY 16% OF HIS CONSTITUENTS SUPPORTED IT. Who is “pretending” here?
Speaker Ryan did a good job of scarewing up.
Did Ryan say to Kevin McCarthy and Steve Scalise, “OK, I need a good head count before we do something stupid.
I don’t want all of us coming out of the cloakroom with only our ****s in our hands.” Apparently not.
There’s no excuse for incompetence. He stinks of failure. He’s gotta go.
