President Trump said Friday that Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) should remain Speaker even if the afternoon vote on the GOP healthcare plan fails.
Yes, he said when asked whether Ryan should keep his job.

I already received a gloating e-mail from my Democrat congresswoman. She is telling me what a great day this is for the American people. I think I am going to puke.
Agreed
I note that NO One conservative or otherwise stepped up to be speaker. The spineless wonders begged Paul to save them
That is the official, public position . . . I doubt it is the private position
Is he afraid we’ll get a conservative Speaker?
Good point.
Exactly so.
Time to start recruiting primary candidates NOW!!!
Of course not, but apparently, you did.
Trump staying out of it would have been a refreshing change since Obama meddled with just about every legislative activity.
I agree.
No one can finesse their way to success all the time.
Sometimes the situation calls for putting the hammer down.
Trump is Machiavellian. Same reason he kept Comey and reaches out to Romney and other douche bags. Instead of surrounding himself with yes men, he keeps his enemies close and turns THEM into yes men. Its actually brilliant (3d chess and all)
From Machiavellis Prince, Book XX:
The prince will always be to win over to himself with the greatest ease those men who in the beginning of a principality had been enemies, and who are of such quality that to maintain themselves they need somewhere to lean. They are all the more forced to serve him faithfully as they know it is more necessary for them to cancel out with deeds the sinister opinion one has taken of them. And so the prince always extracts more use from them than from those who, while serving him with too much security, neglect his affairs.
And since the matter requires it, I do not want to leave out a reminder to princes who have newly taken a state through internal support within it, that they consider well what cause moved those who supported them to support them. If it is not natural affection toward them but only because those supporters were not content with that state, he will be able to keep them his friends with trouble and great difficulty, because it is impossible for him to make them content. And while reviewing well the cause of this, with examples drawn from ancient and modern things, he will see that it is much easier to gain as friends to himself men who were content with the state beforehand, and therefore were his enemies, than those who, because they were not content with it. became friends and gave him support in seizing it.
read post 52. Trump knows exactly what he is doing
Ryan is a GOPe stooge.
Actually it’s worse than that. Ryan is a Soros stooge and the deep state knows this. They are more than likely holding that over his head.
If only he can get RINOs over their fear of winning.
Where have I ever said in any of my posts that President Trump NEVER knew what he is doing???
You don’t know the support I have for him, apparently, or that statement would never have come out of your keyboard!!!
Ryan’s bill could not win the support of the 12% of GOP seats held by this Freedom Caucus no one had heard of 5 yrs ago (before they got NeverTrump Koch money). His bill probably also could not get about 30 votes from GOP moderates because he moved too far rightward.
So in effect he had support from about 170 votes of the GOP conference and lost 55. A conservative bill would have likely . . . oh, not reversed that ratio. It probably would have been 50/50 because some would not want to oppose their Speaker no matter what. So 50/50.
It would get to the Senate. Heller, Collins, Flake (Flake and Heller are both up 2018 and won their seats with < 50% of the vote, with Heller now from solidly blue Nevada). So the bill not only would not get 60, it almost certainly would not get 50.
And before some wacko here says WE PASSED FULL REPEAL BILLS LAST YEAR blah blah. Obama wasn’t going to sign them. The Dems didn’t bother to Filibuster because of that. Now they would filibuster so you gotta have 60, and most of you know this but still want to offer up exclamation points.
Ryan needs to go
It is not up to Trump or you, but up to the members of the House. We have no say in it, unless Ryan is forced to resign and that will not happen.
and thank heavens it’s not up to you either!!!
