BREAK: House leadership now open to changes to the AHCA after learning new info about EHBs/the reconciliation process, per leadership aide
Thanks!
The failure of the GOP to reach a consensus on the repeal and replacement of Obamacare will kill the party and the rest of the Trump agenda. It is suicidal, but not surprising.
The GOP has never felt comfortable about being in charge of the government. The Dems act like the governing party even when in the minority. They set the agenda and the narrative. They remain united no matter what the issue.
The GOPe and conservatives both hate Trump because he is neither. The perfect has become the enemy of the good for both camps.
No this means that they can do more in the bill to reconciliation
At this point a TRUMP VICTORY, even if it’s a flawed bill, is better than a Trump defeat.
...at least in my opinion.
Don’t need 60 senators to repeal commie care.
Repeal it period. Forget the mods.
If Freedom Caucus likes it, that should be a good thing?
In modern times I would agree. They act like a bunch of henpecked husbands.
I disagree, a hollow victory is just that. On top of it then they own it and they get the blame for it.

You just learned of this now did you? Where ya been for six years?
I hear you and trust me, I’m no shill for Trump (just look at my last two postings...which were WARNINGS to him), but I cannot help but think about the FIELD DAY the media will have if effort is defeated by REPUBLICANS...especially versus the benefit to us if Trump actually ‘wins’.
As far as the end-result, we clean it up later. I don’t think anything more than what’s in the bill now can get through reconciliation (although I may be wrong).
As for ownership, Trump already took that mantle when he told the IRS to pretty much accept any excuse for not signing up...something the media will NEVER let him live down, once Obamacare implodes.
I agree. Trump is not a Conservative. Never has been, never will be and his fingerprints are all over Ryan’s Bill. And that Bill is a joke. Thank goodness real Conservatives are fighting this monstrosity.
They have been reading FreeRep today, and my posts on the matter.
As I said earlier today, the Freedom Caucus can get the House to leave in what the Senate leader says he cannot, by Senate rules. Then the Senate leader can vote on their own bill that leaves those things out, for procedural reasons at the time. Then the two separate bills would go a joint House-Senate reconciliation bill, and the voting procedures for it would not prevent what had been left out being put back in under reconciliation. It’s a way forward.
It really doesn't matter who is driving it matters where they are told to go.
Any reports on how they’re proposing to change the EHB?
In case you don't it is:
Doing the same thing over & over expecting a different result the next time.
I’ll just point out that all of this is patently unconstitutional.
The fedguv has no authority to meddle in my, or anyone else’s, healthcare.
from the posts above, and I could be wrong, but it seems like:
the CURRENT bill kept “EHBs” in...for some reason, apparently, Ryan and his team thought they could NOT be taken out because of the rules of writing the bill.
The Freedom Caucus did NOT want EHB language in, as it constitutes REQUIREMENTS and MANDATES from the federal government.
What has transpired, it seems, is that Ryan and his team have been convinced/persuaded/shown a way that EHB mandates can be removed—this would help more Freedom Caucus members vote for it...thus passing the bill.
Please, folks, I’ve read over this thread a couple times...so if I am misinterpreting the fast moving events, correct me! :)
The press will create a field day regardless. I would rather they have their field day and when the Republicans get it right, then the press will be set out to pasture, along with the Democrats, to live out their final days.
Thank you! This makes sense.
Don’t get me wrong, I could be wrong but I don not think so. In fact I hope I am wrong and that all will be good, because I want a good plan. I just think the Republicans are once again being their timid selves.
