The NYPD traffic agent whose allegedly drunken wreck on the Williamsburg Bridge horrifically killed 21-year-old Amanda Miner grinned — and even appeared to be laughing at one point — as he was photographed leaving the courthouse after a brief appearance Tuesday.
Stefan Hoyte, 26, flanked by relatives who tried to cover his smiling face with clothing, could not contain his amusement even though Miner’s devastated family has had less than a week to process her tragic death.

2) Knuckle Sandwich to inflict pain and suffering. Knuckle Sandwich should at least loosen 3 teeth, breaking teeth is preferable.
3) Schadenfreude is achieved as subject has loose\broken teeth and cannot speak as you look on.
People are folking idiots when it comes to court appearances. I am continually having to tell clients to act serious in the courthouse. They think it is folking Judge Judy, who btw out not ot be on tv because people think that is what court is like.

Or, a more salient point is that drinking and driving is a problem that is not exclusive to any particular group.
When we see riots, it is almost exclusively either radical leftists or black racists, and often both. Not so with DUIs.
When a white kid can kill someone and get a slap on the wrist because his parents have money ( and the Texas judge in the case is about to retire with a mysterious influx of retirement cash), and then run off with his mom to Mexico to continue his drunken revelry, we also have a problem with a court system that is failing to apply blind justice.
In this case, being black has no bearing. However, courts treating LEOs, politicians, and the rich differently than the average citizen is an issue. In case you didn’t know, being black does not generally give a person an advantage in the court system.
Keeping an open debate about the role of race requires some honesty and objectivity.
Racists can’t do this. They can’t look at statistics about Asians performing better in math, blacks performing better in sports, or whites having contributed more to scientific and technological advancement, etc.
It is reasonable to point out the hypocrisy of BLM and the statistical evidence that things like the knock-out-game are mostly black-on-white crime.
But not EVERYTHING is about race. The people who think so are really the ones you are profiling. Maybe you should join them, black heart and all.
Or you might want to take off your white colored glasses for a little while and see beyond simplistic stereotypes.
Posting racists comments is against policy on FR. Conservatives are falsely accused of racism all of the time. We don’t need unchecked comments on this forum that provide our political enemies with supporting evidence.

I do not necessarily agree that he is “grinning and laughing” over this. From the story, it would appear the victim was in his car. I doubt he is grinning about having caused her death. This is not a case of gang-banger not caring about his victim. He may have been attempting to smile, or he may have simply had a fit of nervous laughter. Who knows?
So, lets discuss the significance, if any, of this story linked from the NY Daily News, a hard core, left wing yellow rag. Does the “daily news” post this story expecting “outrage” on the part of the evil, white, Christian reader? Is their intent to cast revulsion at minority victims killing each other in response to their common suffering at the hands of evil Trump supporters? Yes, of course, in reality, this is a horrific tragedy for a lovely young lady and her family, but what is the INTENT of this evil rag, the NY Daily News?

This is a click bait headline and is meaningless. The dude kilted a friend. He made a court appearance and is going to be tried. The picture may or may not be a smile reflecting on the tragedy. This is click bait and piss poor reporting. All comments on it are pure salaciousness.
I agree with everything that you said. I only raised it to rebut the potential issue that the barrier was missing a reflector. It will be hard for his lawyer to argue that that was an important factor if he had been driving that route for months .. years? .. and never had a problem before.
I honestly think this guy is just overwhelmed and is smiling out of embarrassment. I don’t think he’s some hardened criminal, he’s a guy who Effed up BIG TIME. Quite frankly, there but for the grace of God go I myself.
The Daily News HAS become evil. It used to really be the working man’s paper, New York’s Picture Newspaper was their motto back in the day.
I remember on some anniversary...the moonlanding? JFK’s assassination? I don’t remember what it was, but it was about 25 or 30 years later and the NYDN put out a replica edition of their paper of that day. It would blow your mind how far to the right they were. I think it had to be Kennedy.
