Pope Francis on Monday begged forgiveness for the "sins and failings of the church and its members" during Rwanda's 1994 genocide, and told Rwanda's president that he hoped his apology would help the country heal.
In an extraordinary statement after Francis' meeting with Rwandan President Paul Kagame, the Vatican acknowledged that the church itself bore blame, as well as some Catholic priests and nuns who "succumbed to hatred and violence, betraying their own evangelical mission" by participating in the genocide.

IIRC, there was a priest who pointed out to attackers that his church was full of the folks that needed killing, or something, and they murdered everyone in his church, over a hundred people, hacked to death.
I thought I was older when he was in power, but I guess not.
Talk is cheap Francis. How about cutting loose some of that trillion dollars you are sitting on?

Good point. He is showing a false sense of humility over the transgressions of a small number of low-level priests and nuns. He should be weeping over all the protestants who were burned at the stake and the Jews who were killed in Catholic instigated pogroms.
Jorge “Francis” Bergoglio? A sniveling, Marxist, punk.
That the pope apologized for. And last I checked he was the church.
I had never even heard the accusation, until now

Had he only kept his mouth shut, that would be at least two of us that never knew about it.
Was Brian Williams there?
Shameful that this happened, but I see no need for Pope Francis to revisit this seeing that the Church in Rwanda had already apologized for what some of its members did.
The majority of the Church's so-called "wealth" is tied up in real estate and in art work. These assets are "public wealth." They are open for all to visit and see, much like a public museum. The Vatican couldn't even afford to have the Sistine Chapel artwork refurbished. A Japanese company footed the bill for that.
Well if one actually cared as much about refugees as he claims it shouldn’t be too hard to liquidate a few billion.
Most likely he is doing it for the same reason Obama went on his apology tour apologizing for everything the Marxists accused the US of doing whether we did it or not. Once the Marxists have an official apology from your “leader” to point at, then you’re guilty, no matter what the facts are- and they have obtained the bludgeon they wanted all along to propagandize the youth, without actually having to win an argument with reason.
Eff this pope forever.
like it was whitey hacking to death those thousands and thousands of a fricans
A few billion what? Pieces of artwork? Square feet of building space?
It’s Africa being Africa. The Catholic Church had no role.
Francis is acting just like Obama. He hates the thing he heads.
It was the UN that looked the other way and let it happen.
