Spike Lee Calls Out NFL Teams For Not Signing Free Agent Colin Kaepernick

Famed film director Spike Lee has joined the Colin Kaepernick debate, suggesting Sunday in an Instagram post that one of his hometown teams -- the New York Jets -- should sign the unemployed quarterback.

"The New York J-E-T-S Need A Quarterback," wrote Lee, who said he spoke with Kaepernick over brunch. "Who Is The J-E-T-S Quarterback? Is My Man Joe Willie Namath Coming Back? Crazy Times We Live In."

Lee used his post to rail against the NFL for excluding Kaepernick, who ignited a firestorm last fall because he refused to stand for the national anthem as a way to protest social and racial issues.

Lee said it "Smells MAD Fishy To Me, Stinks To The High Heavens" that Kaepernick, who opted out of his San Francisco 49ers contract, still doesn't have a job.

Kaepernick will stand for the national anthem during the 2017 season, sources have told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Kaepernick no longer wants his method of protest to detract from the positive change he believes has been created, sources said. The amount of national discussion on social inequality -- as well as support from other athletes nationwide, including NFL and NBA players -- affirmed the message he has tried to deliver.

Kapernick will be taking a knee this season while placing green beans on the lower shelf at Safeway.

As a life-long Bears fan, if they sign Kaperrnick, I am done with them.

He is a low talent and low intellect attention whore.

Too little too late, so sad, too bad. Start digging ditches, or perhaps the Canadian League would like to have you. 8>)

As a 49ers fan who has watched every game in Kaepernick’s pro career, I can think of no better just dessert than having Kaepernick sign with a team Spike Lee cares about. You want him Spike? OK - enjoy watching him bail of of clean pockets, fixate on his primary receiver and lay out his receivers for defensive backs.

Maybe Spike will make up for the lost revenue resulting from the loss of NFL viewers thanks to Kaepernick.

He’s a very average quarterback....who is generally over-priced, and there’s this strange feeling for managers that he might go immediately back and kneel once they sign him to a one-year or two-year contract. Why risk it?

I will also suggest that none of the TV sports groups will hire him as a commentator now because of the behavior he might demonstrate. So, he’s mostly finished with sports.

““Kaepernick will stand for the national anthem during the 2017 season””

Has he said this publicly? I haven’t seen it.

Leftists never want to give counter protesters ligitimacy- it's only the protesters right. This is changeable based on "correct" ideology.

His agent says it, but it’s b.s., doesn’t commit him and with a loose cannon like CK what multi-billion dollar NFL org. wants to bet its bottom line on him?

If he were a clear-cut dominant starter a team might put up with the b.s. (so much the worse for them), but what team wants his baggage for a probable back-up? You want a back-up QB to be solid, reliable, trustworthy, no trouble at all, and totally 110% supportive of the team.

Kaeperdick can take his game to Canada if they’ll have him.

The Rams wanted to come back to LA and try to attach themselves to a legacy that they’re not entitled to - the Jack Youngblood, Jack Reynolds, Deacon Jones, Merlin Olsen 60’s - 70’s - early 80’s LA Rams. That will never happen - top to bottom - they suck eggs

Yeah, for sure. But, if uber liberal SF doesn’t want him probably no team does.
