Famed film director Spike Lee has joined the Colin Kaepernick debate, suggesting Sunday in an Instagram post that one of his hometown teams -- the New York Jets -- should sign the unemployed quarterback.
"The New York J-E-T-S Need A Quarterback," wrote Lee, who said he spoke with Kaepernick over brunch. "Who Is The J-E-T-S Quarterback? Is My Man Joe Willie Namath Coming Back? Crazy Times We Live In."
Lee used his post to rail against the NFL for excluding Kaepernick, who ignited a firestorm last fall because he refused to stand for the national anthem as a way to protest social and racial issues.
Lee said it "Smells MAD Fishy To Me, Stinks To The High Heavens" that Kaepernick, who opted out of his San Francisco 49ers contract, still doesn't have a job.
Kaepernick will stand for the national anthem during the 2017 season, sources have told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Kaepernick no longer wants his method of protest to detract from the positive change he believes has been created, sources said. The amount of national discussion on social inequality -- as well as support from other athletes nationwide, including NFL and NBA players -- affirmed the message he has tried to deliver.

Spike they didn’t sign me either so that makes you a RACIST ! < / sarcasm >
Sports are the ultimate meritocracy. GMs and coaches get fired based on wins and losses.
People get second, third and fourth chances all the time - if the talent to wi games is there. there are high and low profile examples every single year.
What is happening is that GMs are saying he can’t win me more games than last year and he isn’t worth the headache. It’s simple. If he could carry a franchise like manning did and Brady does - he would have a home. — just like michael Vick did after jail.
It appears that Kaepernick's bed won't be an NFL bed...
I would love to meet him. I would hop up on the table. That way he would not have to bend down to kiss my ass. He is done. His career is over. Most of the NFL Execs will drop trou next to me. He can kiss our collective ass. Uber wont hire him.
One has the right to protest, others have the right to disavow the protester, including NFL owners.
Rich Cimini has been able to inspire others who have been seeking a career in sports journalism.
Being a dedicated and hard working journalist, he has been able to prove himself as an asset for ESPN and whole sports journalism sector.

Jason Whitlock calls out ESPN in this tweet. ESPN personality, Scott Van Pelt, responds to him and other ESPN critics in the thread
In his living room, all alone.
He has no right to protest and keep his job, though. The gutless jerks who run the NFL and some of the owners are worse than CP.
From all indications, the Jets have no desire to sign Kaepernick, despite the fact that he is only 29 and has four postseason wins on his résumé.
Jets owner Woody Johnson is a prominent GOP supporter who raised millions for Donald Trump; last fall, during the presidential campaign, Johnson blamed Kaepernick for being one of the main reasons for the NFL's declining TV ratings.
Too late colon. Perhaps you could make a fresh start of it in a new career - say as a bore brush?
Dear Spike, your guy has so insulted us paying customers, fans.....that we want nothing more to do with him or NFL as long as he is in it.
Kaepernick sucks as a quarterback and lately Spike Lee has sucked as a movie producer. Both will soon fade away into ambiguity.
The dickhead is part of the crowd who is ruining football.
Spike’s a douche-nozzle.
Say what you want about Spike Lee, but he is even-handed. Like most have probably forgotten how vocal he was in calling out the NFL when nobody would give Tim Tebow a shot.
Wait, that was Spike, right?
Hey Spike, you sign him! He can be your body guard.
The biggest issue is that Colin Kaepernick seriously screwed up his teams season with the distractions and divisions he created for his team
You resist your way, we’ll resist ours
