Could you elaborate on exactly how you see the President coming out on top, so far? It is not apparent to me at all.

They do NOT have ANY Constitutional Authority to dictate the terms, and certainly not any details, over immigration, particularly when those people are NON-Citizens.
Me neither. Trump has been picking his battles careful, a little too carefully for my taste.
It is baffling.
So far Trump is undermining the credibility of your traditional activist gavel-jockey. This is timed beautifully — the start of his first term and during early deliberation of his first SCOTUS nominee.
If he were to do what Cruz wanted to, however, and simply ignore judges, then congess has an excuse to impeach him.
However, he can drag out the execution of this particular order to basically go nowhere. It’s not like the judge can punish him for delays.
Further, once judicial credibility erodes sufficiently, Trump would not be impeached for ignoring something this outrageous or more outrageous.
It’s up to Trump to decide how willing congress is to impeach him over doing the right thing.
Ignore it and go to supreme court. A judge has no power to do this. And none if he is ignored. He commands no budget, and no law enforcement.
This lack is by constitutional design.

The reason Trump has been slow to resist this obviously unconstitutional power grab by the left is that the US SC is in the grip of the left until Gorsuch is installed. If Trump fights now then the nomination process is jeopardized. The left knows this and is using this to screw Trump. The Gorsuch nomination process begins this week. Let’s see how Trump and the GOPE plays this over the next few weeks.
It is NOT baffling. Our “Justice” system was taken over by the Freemason sodomites and their Rites, a hundred years ago.
They flipped our Ethics system to make it insane-—irrational-—removed from Right Reason and Natural Law (The Constitution).
Irrational, vile judges like the above and those who promote the vile evil vices of sodomy and baby-killing, need to be removed and put in prison for treason and ejecting Right Reason from Natural Law—our rational Constitution based on Objective Truth-—not Marxist moral relativism where all religions are “equal”-—even irrational satanic, Freemason ones which should be BANNED from a rational government-—which ours used to be.
How does a district Federal judge manage to find the legal standing to substitute his judgment for that of the US President?
9 AM Monday morning, March 20th 2017, the US House of Representatives should be starting impeachment proceedings on this judge, and Theodore Chuang should be immediately suspended from the bench for assuming powers to which he has no basis in law to perform.
And while they are at it, the House should also start impeachment proceedings against district Federal Judge Derrick Watson of Hawaii.
And abolish the two courts altogether. Congress does have the power to dissolve any Federal court except the Supreme Court.
Thinking about it some more- the particular measure being opposed so strenuously is not really very effective in fighting the Moslem madness and was perhaps even initiated to draw out the judges and lawyers from the left. If so, when they are really excited and have pushed all their chips onto the table they will be forcefully shaken from their dream and fine they are in free fall.
