With strips of what looks like bacon laid out over the seat rests.
Any cannibalism suspected?
The Donner party had Jeeps? Whodathunk?
Donner.. Party of 5?
Donner.. Party of 4?
The original article, which is also linked in the Fox News writeup:

I was not at all surprised to find out it was written by Jalopnik’s resident Jeep fanboy - who is also in the process of rebuilding a 1948 CJ2-A.
Donner....Party of 50.................
Donner, party of 83......
(From one of Robin Williams’s gags)
I was born and raised in Florida but spent 5 years in Western Kansas.
I think it was in March of 1988 that I was driving home from Eastern, Oklahoma. It began to snow and the weather was cold. When I got a few miles West of Pratt, KS. the highway patrol stopped me and told me the road was closed.
I had to return to Pratt and spend the night in a motel. I had a 4wd pickup and was a little irritated. I felt sure I could have made it if they had let me try.
The next day around noon they opened the road. I could not believe how deep some of the drifts were. When I got to Ford, KS I noticed an 18 wheeler almost totally buried. It was covered except just a tiny bit of the trailer showing.
A broken rear window reveals that the interior is empty, so its owner wasnt trapped in it.
Yep, happens all the time. The owners usually return in the spring to recover them after the snow melts........
The cops have the license plate number but they don't know who it belongs to??????
Any of those morons think that just maybe there might be a body out there?
They can’t track the owner from the license plate? They can’t run the plate through the database and see who the vehicle belongs to????
Calling; Donner, party of 50; Donner, party of 50; your table is ready........
Unconfirmed reports indicate that the upholstery is splashed with frozen bbq sauce and dotted with hundreds of used wet naps. Several large, unopened containers of frozen coleslaw were also found nearby.
During the blizzard of ‘93 the parking lot of the ski resort I was staying at became drifted so much that one of the maintenance workers plowing the lot creamed a Jag XJS that was buried over the roof in snow.
Is it from the Donner Party?? :-)
My gosh, Donner Pass is still troublesome....
