Lou Dobbs: Speaker Paul Ryan Should Resign
Brietbart News ^ | March 14 2017 | Neil Munro

Posted on 03/14/2017 12:46:17 PM PDT by drewh

House Speaker Ryan should resign his post, says Lou Dobbs, the anchor of Lou Dobbs Tonight on Fox Business Network.

Dobbs Tweeted his resignation call Tuesday morning after Breitbart posted a pre-election recording of Ryan saying he would never defend President Donald Trump, and as multiple GOP legislators walked away from Ryan’s Obamacare replacement proposal, the American Health Care Act.

In the audiotape, recorded Oct. 10, 2016, Ryan told his fellow GOP legislators that ““I am not going to defend Donald Trump—not now, not in the future.” Ryan spoke shortly after the public heard the Access Hollywood tape of Trump’s conversation in which he said about women that “when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.”

Dobbs followed up his call for Ryan’s resignation with two Tweets calling for the full repeal of Obamacare. One Tweet describes Ryan’s proposed alternative as “RyanCare,” and said it is failing.

According to the leaked audiotape, Ryan said about his reaction to Trump’s comments:

There are basically two things that I want to make really clear, as for myself as your Speaker. I am not going to defend Donald Trump—not now, not in the future. As you probably heard, I disinvited him from my first congressional district GOP event this weekend—a thing I do every year. And I’m not going to be campaigning with him over the next 30 days … Many of you on this call are facing tough reelections. Some of you are not. But with respect to Donald Trump, I would encourage you to do what you think is best and do what you feel you need to do. Personally, you need to decide what’s best for you. And you all know what’s best for you where you are.

I remember when I voted for Romney because of Ryan, I was “stupider” then.

So many Dim women swear he actually grabbed women who didn’t want his advances, IOWs, assault.

I had a friend who was hesitating to vote for him because of those comments and I asked, can you guarantee your husband has never said anything like that?

He didn't perceive wrong at all.

There are two particular Senate races from 2016 that I would use as an example here. There were probably dozens of House races across the country with a similar dynamic at work.

I'm sure there will be political science textbooks written about the Rob Portman (Ohio) and Pat Toomey (Pennsylvania) Senate victories last year. Both of these were Republican seats that were targeted by Democrats to help them win control of the Senate, and in Toomey's case it was a Senate seat in a state where a Republican presidential candidate hadn't won in almost three decades.

Both of these candidates faced a similar dilemma. They could publicly condemn Trump and alienate their Republican base, or they could endorse Trump and alienate moderates and suburban women. Both of these guys took a third option instead: they basically ignored Trump completely. Toomey's win was just as remarkable as Trump's victory in Pennsylvania. Both of them won very tight races, but they did not win with the same voters. Trump lost in most of the suburban areas but more than made up for that with working-class Democrats who voted for Toomey's Democratic opponent. Toomey held the GOP base in the suburbs, which was critical to his victory because he didn't run as strong as Trump among those working-class Democrats.

I could not agree more, and I would like to see a complete vetting of Michael Flynn and his return to the Trump fold publicly. I for one would like to see if he lied to Pence, or if Pence collaborated with taking him down.

I can’t prove it, but have a feeling that Pence is to Trump as Bush was to Reagan.

“It’s also kind of ridiculous for anyone to expect Ryan to maintain any loyalty to Trump back in October 2016. Trump did, after all, go out of his way to promote the guy who had challenged Ryan unsuccessfully in the Republican primary in that House district.”

didn’t Trump end up supporting Ryan’s re-election, or was that as Ryan remaining House Speaker?

“DJT knew damn well Ryan was a vicious snake when he took him in.”

Yep. Guess we have to take the good with the bad...

He also said the “Clinton’s are good people”
and
“Hillary has worked very long and very hard over a long period of time and we owe her a major debt of gratitude for her service to our country,”

RE:”Paul Ryno makes the same stupid faces as Anthony Weiner. Don’t suppose there’s a connection?”

Here's a 2011 thread about Newt Gingrich being critical of Paul Ryan and ~ all the commenters cursing Newt for it.

Was Newt for the Ryan plan before he was against it? (Gingrich does a John Kerry) | 05/16/2011 | FR post

That will be a recurring event until the Rs find some brains and ditch “leaders” like Ryan.

I thought you made some very good points, but just to keep it absolutely simple, your leading words said everything.....

“If he perceived that a loose cannon like Trump at the top of the ticket...”

Trump can’t trust anyone with that perception. Pyrrhic victory for Ryan...it’s time.

Lou Dobbs feels the same way about LYIN RYAN as I do!!! There is SOMETHING about this guy something in my gut I just can’t get past!!! I just want to SMACK that SMIRK right off his face!! I have worked with the public my entire life have a VERY GOOD sense of people and this guy is NOT to be trusted he is out for ONLY himself, his donors, and K-street!!! You ALL can bet that when Trump won the election that this little WEASLE told his donors and K-street NOT to worry HE would take care of the Trump PROBLEM, after all HE believes HE is in charge and thus far with the Obamacare legislation he has Trump on the ropes!!! His next move WILL BE that Trump MUST lower his tax cuts because the HC law is just to expensive to give Trump the BIG tax cuts he wants! LYIN RYAN will STALL the tax cut bill as long as he can then tell Trump he just doesn’t have the votes and Trump must accept what RYAN is telling him tax cuts MUST be smaller!! He WILL undercut Trumps agenda on EVERYTHING until WE rid ourselves of this LYING POS!!!

Trump did, after all, go out of his way to promote the guy who had challenged Ryan unsuccessfully in the Republican primary in that House district.

I sure don't remember it that way. A lot of us here at FR were hoping Trump would come out and support Paul Nehlen, but he never did.
