A three-judge panel with the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans ruled on March 6 that the groups trying to block the removal of statues commemorating Confederate leaders had failed to make a proper legal challenge.
The Monumental Task Committee and the Louisiana Landmarks Society argued in its lawsuit that removing the statues would harm the citys historic legacy one of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, and two others, Confederate Gen. P.G.T. Beauregard and Confederate President Jefferson Davis.
Also slated for removal is the Battle of Liberty Place monument near the foot of Iberville Street, although it has been treated separately from the other three because it was previously moved from Canal Street for a federally funded transportation project, the Times Picayune reported. It honors a white separatist-led skirmish to overthrow the Reconstructionist leadership of New Orleans.

Any word on when BOOK BURNING cpuld begin too?
Liberals destroying America’s heritage and history one statue or historical site at a time.
It's not about history, it's about the Orwellian "Two Minute Hate." The people represented by these statues have been designated "Enemies of the Politically correct state" so they are being "Emanuel Goldsteined."
Besides the stupidity of this, a colossal waste of money and time.
So when the new electors decide to remove MLK will that be removed too?
The New York Times editors almost wept when the Taliban blew up the 1700 year old Buddhas of Bamiyan on March 12, 2001 in Afghanistan. Where’s the outrage now?
As a non sequitor, Trump should unseal MLKs files. Why would some man as "great" as MLK need his files sealed? Or 0bama for that matter? How come all the great Negroes have sealed files? What are they trying to hide? There are many more similarities between MLK and 0bama than skin color, starting with communism.
Well they’ll say that was there, this is here. Or something.
That statue of him is absolutely gross, almost Stalinist/Maoist in looks. But of course any mention of taking it down to replace it with something more respectful will be met with racism, etc etc etc.
...Wish someone with clout would start a boycott... hurt em in the $$$$ pocket, these azzholes want the city...give it to them.
Monument removal companies in that area have had to deal with serious physical threats if they try to make the moves. Count on that to continue.
The obvious conclusion is that the council members have no clue who "Jefferson Davis Parkway", "Robert E. Lee Boulevard" and similar were named for. THEY DIDN'T CARE, until it became a black democrat/RevCom/BLM campaign to stir up racial animus. They certainly didn't care about the statue atop that column in the middle of Lee Circle, despite gathering around it every Mardi Gras.
Maybe Seattle can loan New Orleans their Lenin statue for a while.
Just more socialist-democrats trying to hide their history, and erase any visible traces of their sordid past.
Removing the statues is easier said than done.
If the Civil War never happened and it was all about slavery, then slavery must still exist.
Traygone martin or michael ‘hands up don’t shoot’ brown statues? Heroic young men who were aspiring rappers. Or something.
The American people have been so conditioned that they wouldn’t believe anything negative in the MLK files anyway even if there is indeed adverse material in them.
Pancho Villa is, where? I think it’s Tucson.
If the democrats want to get rid of statues of past democrats.... should we care?
