Prosecutor Preet Bharara was fired by the attorney general a day after he refused to return a phone call from President Trump, a report alleges.
An assistant to the president of the United States called Bhararas office Thursday, saying the president wanted to talk, but Bharara refused citing Department of Justice rules, the New York Times reported.
On Friday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions notified all 46 federal prosecutors, who were appointed by President Obama and still active, to leave. Bharara was one of those asked to resign.
When Bharara got the call Thursday, he informed an aide to Sessions that he wouldnt be able to talk to the president because of the rules. He then called Trumps assistant to say the same.
It is unknown what Trump wanted to talk to Bharara about.

If your boss asks you to talk, and you refuse, you get fired.
Dude sounds like an arrogant moron.
Good riddance!
About that job offer in DC .....
Oh...
Never mind
You’re fired
I wonder if obama had made the same phone call, would he have refused or would he have dropped anything and everything he was doing to talk to the ‘one’.
What “rule” was it that disallowed talking to Trump now, but made it okay through transition?
You’re damned skippy! That a$$hole was a Democrat through and through.
maybe the leaking traitor has been smoked out
I’m pretty sure I saw Preet at the elevator when the cam was running. I reckon DJT told him he was expecting a lot of action, and four months later, no action. I think DJT probably initially wanted to keep him.
President Trump blows the whistle...Preet !
You’re out !
Terrible journalism. If the reporter won’t cite the “rule” then there really is no point to this story.
All a stunt so he can run for Mayor
Another “muslime” gone?
Well, Mr. Bharara tell me what “the rules” are please. Then I’ll form an opinion. But until then, it seems that when your boss calls you talk to him, and if he veers into topics that would be inappropriate, then you advise him.
This guy always has been a bit of a grandstander. Refusing to take the boss’ call while citing DOJ “rules” sounds just like him.
Serves him right to hear “You’re Fired”. Trump isn’t a squishy RINO who is afraid of adverse publicity. Good riddance to the grandstander.
Maybe he was afraid Trump would ask him about the leaks coming from his office (as revealed on the Judge Jeanine show).
Deport him back to his third-world sh%#-hole.
Before rendering judgement, what are those rules he is referring to, and are they a legitimate reason to refuse phone contact with the CIC?
Obviously the President either doesn’t think said rules exist and/or do not apply.
This just confirms my speculating yesterday this AG was involve with the wire trapping of Trump Towers. That’s the only reason he would say he couldn’t return it called to Trump
