BOSTON — FBI Director James Comey says he plans to serve his entire 10-year term, even as controversy swirls over his attempt to rebut President Donald Trump’s claim that the Obama administration tapped his phones during the election.
Comey said Wednesday during a cybersecurity conference at Boston College: “You’re stuck with me for another 6½ years.” He was appointed 3½ years ago by then-President Barack Obama.

How can this guy self-appoint? The executive power is vested in the President alone. We are off the Constitutional rails for sure.
If Trump wants him gone doesn’t he have the authority to remove him?
I’m still unclear as to why in the hell he’s there now?

Oh, HE DID, NY Post? Did Commey say this while discussing his job future? Has Commey come out and said anything himself about “privately asking”?
So the NYP is taking these alleged “sources” as FACT?

Trump can dump Comey anytime. He serves at the pleasure of the President.
Call me old fashioned, but a boastful declaration that one is un-fireable and intends to remain a thorn in the side of one’s employer for the duration of that employment sounds like a pretty solid reason for immediate termination.
The fact that Trump hasn't done so with Comey leads me to believe he has a reason for keeping him. I trust Trump on this and will let events play out.
America won’t. Hillary Clinton owns Comey lock, stock, and barrel head. Comey controls the FBI. I am pretty sure President Trump could could change that if he wanted to.
I agree Sam. I think there is a big sting in progress and Comey is wearing a white hat. We should know soon.

Actually he can be fired by the President. Considering how unpopular he made himself with everyone, no one would care
Trump can terminate him for cause, the cause being he interfered in the election by being mean to Hillary!!
How awesome would that be? Hillary has been out in public blaming Comey for her loss. It's not like she can take that back. Trump can agree with her, and say that it's unacceptable for a law enforcement figure to insert himself so prominently into a political race, especially the "sacred" race for the Presidency.
