A 21-year-old Ann Arbor woman pleaded guilty as charged to one count of false report of a misdemeanor in 15th District Court on Monday, March 6.
Halley Bass admitted in court that she fabricated a story about a strange man scratching her face in downtown Ann Arbor on Nov. 15.
I was suffering from depression at the time, Bass told Judge Elizabeth Pollard Hines. I made a superficial scratch on my face. It was visible and I was embarrassed about what Id done. So I made up a story and told a friend that a stranger had done it while I was walking. I was encouraged to report it to the police. I made the mistake of doing that.

Ann Arbor or as we used to call it “Berkly East”.
Fake hate? Oh the hate is real, it’s just misattributed.
“Halley Bass admitted in court that she fabricated a story about a strange man scratching her face in downtown Ann Arbor on Nov. 15.”
You know it had to be a lie. To start with there are no men in downtown AA, and any that were there would have been out deer hunting on Nov. 15! That is opening day, a holiday in Mi.

Holiday or Holy Day?
BTW, which is bigger Opening Day of Hunting Season or the annual Michigan vs Ohio State game?
Just curious.
Tawana Akbar..
Thanks - You are the best dot-connector today!!!
This woman obviously is deeply disturbed because she scratches herself for attention. Then she lies about it to an unsuspecting acquaintance (these people don’t have friends in the traditional sense) blaming it on an “evil man.” She should get the max sentence allowed for the hoax.
I hope she stays home tomorrow with her wallowing whining pussie pals there in Ann Arbor and across America. Real women (and men, too) need the break.
She likely would’ve got into any trouble if she would have stayed at home and cooked her man some bacon and eggs for breakfast. Ooops, i mean her women.
Opening day of deer season ( Nov 15th ) is the most important holiday of the year in Michigan.
” This year, more than 525,000 hunters are expected to participate in the annual firearms season for deer, which accounts for the largest economic impact of hunting in the state.
The DNR estimates more than 90 percent of Michigan hunters will pursue deer this year, with hunters spending an average of seven days afield during the firearm season.
In Michigan, 60 percent of hunters hunt only deer, making the upcoming firearm season especially critical for the economy.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service estimates hunting in Michigan generates more than $2.3 billion in economic impact in the state, including expenses related to food and lodging and $1.3 billion spent on equipment.”
