It seems to me that the border agent was just being chicken $h!t, as we called it in the Army, so he could aggravate her, and put in a dig against our POTUS, as well. His crack about Trump was just gratuitous. He should work for TSA.
When crossing the US border from Canada, once you or anyone in your party has been flagged ONCE, you are automatically flagged every time you cross the border from that time forward.

Stuff like that happens. When people were complaining about the people who got held up at customs in Trump's first vetting rollout, I thought, for the most part, it was much ado about nothing because I've been held up for hours at customs when there's no problem except huge lines.

I’ve been told by many people who cross the border regularly that if you manage to run into the wrong immigration officer when he’s having a bad day, you are going to have trouble.
I’m also told that in general the Canadian guys are worse than ours in this regard.
All these fake sob stories lead to one thing. Trump is bad and is doing bad things. I’m surprised they didn’t throw a global warming reference in there too. It’s too bad they don’t realize how stupid they all sound to normal people.
