One of the things that's baffled the hell out of me in recent days is the number of Freepers who have the audacity to suggest that Donald Trump -- even after everything that happened over the last two years and culminated in an election that will go down as one of the most improbably upsets in U.S. history -- doesn't understand what he's dealing with. I think he started plotting and war-gaming this in 2011 after the WH correspondents' shindig. That's a long time to gather intel on every single politician in DC, and he had the money and loyal resources to do it. He did not walk into this in 2015 blind. No way.

I think it goes back even further than that. He had a very brief run as a Reform Party candidate in the 2000 presidential election before he quit the race because he didn’t think a third-party candidate could ever win a presidential election.
