Before heading off to his so-called "winter White House" in Palm Beach, Florida, on Friday, President Donald Trump summoned some of his senior staff to the Oval Office and went "ballistic," senior White House sources told ABC News.
The president erupted with anger over the latest slew of news reports connecting Russia with the new administration -- specifically the abrupt decision by Attorney General Jeff Sessions to recuse himself from investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 campaign.
Sources said the president felt Sessions' recusal was unnecessary and only served to embolden Trump's political opponents. The attorney general made his announcement Thursday just as Trump returned to Washington from a trip to the U.S.S. Gerald Ford in Virginia for a speech about his agenda as president.
Hours earlier, aboard the ship, the president had told reporters that he had "total" confidence in Sessions and saw no reason why the attorney general should recuse himself.
We should have had a good week. We should have had a good weekend. But once again, back to Russia," a senior White House official said, expressing the frustration simmering in the West Wing following the news earlier in the week that Sessions failed to disclose during his confirmation process that he had met with the Russian ambassador twice during the election campaign. Sessions at the time was a senator on the Armed Services Committee and was also helping the Trump campaign.
Among those gathered in the Oval Office on Friday: Chief of staff Reince Priebus, chief strategist Stephen K. Bannon, White House Counsel Don McGahn, press secretary Sean Spicer, newly-hired Communications Director Mike Dubke, along with Trump son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner and his wife Ivanka Trump, the sources said.

Wouldn't surprise me if this tidbit was "fed" to someone that Trump suspected was leaking.
That person is now caught. Oopsie!
Trump...you need to set the trap for preibus to see if he is the leaker.
Can we get past this distrust of Priebus? Please?
I did not start off with much trust in him, but in the absence of real facts to the contrary, let us all assume that Priebus has now firmly tied his fortune to Trump.
But I absolutely agree with you 100% - Sessions recusal was a disaster, and his press conference was one of the worst performances I had ever seen.
Sessions also said he sought the advice of "career DOJ ethics experts" as to whether or not he should recuse himself. Guess who those "experts" where?
OBAMA Appointees!
My gosh. This was a tragedy.
Exactly the question.
Holy Cow, you are right. Sessions is a material witness. I suspect everyone in Trumps Campaign is now a material witness to the BIGGEST SCANDAL IN AMERICAN HISTORY!!!
No...
absolutely not.
he is on the ryan side of things.
he needs to be tested.
Oh and btw...he essentially skates with the media. Where are the relentless hatchet jobs on him.
Was this reported?
I pray this is true. Trump needs to kick him the rear end and get going in the right direction.
My confidence in Sessions is in a nose dive. We will be fortunate at this point if he investigates Wire-tapping-gate. I have almost no hope at this point that Sessions will do anything about John podesta, Pizzagate, and the Clinton Crime Foundation.
There’s no other possibility anymore. Only the Chief of Staff could lie to Sessions that POTUS agreed with the decision to recuse.
Whew! The Ides of March headed off 11 days early.
Then, stop reading Junk/fake news like this article.
Articles like this are basically hit articles against conservatives who buy into the bs of the article.
So for sake of argument, they rid of Trump...Pence becomes president.
If they try to get rid of Pence...Ryan becomes president.
Is Ryan smarmy enough for the Dems, or do they want to go through the entire list of succession, and then what?
I thought it was a big blunder, too, and I don’t think the Dems should have been allowed to force out Flynn, either. That emboldened them.
But Trump is responding strongly, and if it’s true that Obama ordered a FISA wiretap of his opponent in June (with what justification and before what judge, exactly?), got it approved, and tapped the phones of his opponent’s home....but even then, couldn’t get any of the pro-Obama security forces to say they had found anything, and yet continued to tap Trump’s phone...I’d say we have something a heck of a lot bigger and more real than Watergate.
This is serious abuse of power. Since when does a sitting President get to wiretap his opposing party’s candidate?
He does. The Washington elite play their game of nuance, but Trump always falls back to his gut instincts, and he knows they have to destroy the enemy and stop playing defense.
Not good.
5.56mm
I think they know who it is.
But, they can run some sting ops to flush out the rest.
Just hand some fake memos out to each one, one at a time, and sit back and watch. These SOBs are so full of themselves they will swallow the bait hook line and sinker.
Fire every Obama holdover...for starters.
“If the ONLY thing you have, to combat this mess, is a belief that GOD is going to step in, you’re in big trouble.”
God helps those who help themselves.
Hey look, another media story with zero evidence, that they just expect you to believe.
I understand Kenneth Starr is looking for work. Has previous special prosecutor experience.
Something doesn’t smell right here. In light of all the leaks, how does a meeting with his staff get leaked?
Sessions is no fighter, too clean and honorable for this fight, and this is a disaster.
