“The mistake was Sessions jumping the gun before talking to Trump.”
Look..I’m not saying I have all the answers, but what you’re’ saying is that Sessions just moved on something that he thought was already decided, and that’s clearly not the case...
he took it upon himself to make a huge decision without clearing it with his boss and made his boss look foolish and not in control.
Like I said, I don’t know the complete story but I do know that rule number one in politics is never make the boss look bad!
That’s where the ‘just heard’ part of the wire-tapping tweet comes in. There are two possibilities: Jeff was mis-informed of DJT’s wish to not recuse - and by whom? - or Jeff went against the boss’ orders. Just two options.
I’m going with Jeff was mislead into thinking Trump wanted him to recuse.
We agree. I said, Sessions was scheduled to meet with Trump, who would have talked him out of recusing.
His boss really didn't have a say in the matter. Sessions stated in his press conference that Trump didn't want him to recuse himself, but he said his obligations as a lawyer dictated his course of action.
P.S. -- Sessions was going to have to recuse himself down the road anyway, and if Trump put any kind of pressure on him not to do so then Trump would come off looking like he's got something to hide.
