Februarys quarterly auction of carbon dioxide emission allowances under Californias cap and trade program was another financial washout for the state.
Results for last weeks auction were posted Wednesday morning, revealing that just 16.5 percent of the 74.8 million metric tons of emission allowances were sold at the floor price of $13.57 per ton.
The paltry auction revenues will likely stall Gov. Jerry Browns 2017-18 budget plan to spend $2.2 billion on a variety of climate-related programs and projects, including $800 million on his bullet train project.

Too much rainfall is ending up back in the ocean. Ditch the trains and the climate crap and build more reservoirs.

If you went down to 5th and Wall St in Downtown LA every night to hang out and party with the local residents, in a month or two you would understand their thinking process at the Sacramento Bee.

That would mean concrete evidence that their entire raison d’être of making other people miserable is built on feet of clay.

What a clever scam this is.Who in their right mind would buy emission allowances? I don't get it.

They need the money to pay for the bullet train to nowhere!
Now, I can laugh. It wasn’t funny when we lived in SoCal, but it’s hilarious now that we live in E Tennessee. With sincere apologies to all of my dear FReeper Friends still gutting it out in the Golden State.

Q: Who in their right mind would buy emission allowances?
A: Those whom suckle at the public teet, requiring the ‘good graces’ of govt to continue to receive their blessing (aka taxpayer funding), thus the kick-back, er, I mean pay-to-play, I mean ‘emission allowances’, were bought.

It’s the point of “climate change”. You can tax it. Oh, and the $2 Billion? How about infrastructure, idiot communist Brown?

From the article:
The ARB was offering 43.7 million tons of state-owned emission allowances, but sold just 602,340 tons of advance 2020 allowances, which means the state will see only $8.2 million, rather than the nearly $600 million it could have received from a sellout.
In other words, they sold about 1.3% of the emission allowances they thought they would sell.
What a humiliating failure. Not too surprising, of course, but humiliating nonetheless.

I’m so happy we don’t live in a loony bin such as California. They seem to be in a perpetual self destruct mode.
