Yes, it’s probably why she had her feet up because she didn’t have any shoes on at the moment. But actually, all these “gotchas” will be the press’ undoing. People are not offended by these actions, but they will take notice of the fact that the press tries to make a big deal out of them.

You can't tell from the only picture that I've seen. Maybe someone who was there knows that she was wearing shoes. But, as you say, this is a tempest in a teapot, and all the pics of Obama with his feet on the furniture surely undermine any point the left might have been trying to make.
