Since Trump owes his election to the presidency primarily to those "standard conservatives," what we applied to Cruz (i.e., that it is no longer considered to be politically risky for a conservative, self-proclaimed "anti-establishment" candidate to openly place a man who is a CFR member in a prominent slot) also applies to Trump. For the "standard conservative," the fact that McMaster is a CFR member is largely irrelevant.
When considering how relevant McMasters CFR membership may be in his strategic position in the Trump administration, we should examine how closely he adheres to the CFRs record for advancing internationalism, eradicating national borders, and entangling the United States and other nations into a number of supranational organizations of which the UN is the outstanding, but not the only, example.
In 2006, McMaster joined the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in London as a senior research associate with a mandate to "conduct research to identify opportunities for improved multi-national cooperation and political-military integration in the areas of counterinsurgency, counter-terrorism, and state building," and to devise "better tactics to battle terrorism."
There are several disturbing phrases (e.g., "multi-national cooperation," "political-military integration") found in that description of McMasters mandate -- along with his association with the IISS, which has a decidedly internationalist bent. For example, a newsletter posted by the Royal Institute of International Affairs (commonly known as Chatham House), which has long been a type of "sister" counterpart to the CFR in Britain, announced a conference at the Ritz Carlton in Berlin on October 17-19, 2014 entitled "Europes Strategic Choices: Building Prosperity and Security." Listed on the program as one of the conferences keynote speakers at a plenary session, "Defining Europes Global Role and Agenda," was François Heisbourg, chairman, International Institute for Strategic Studies.

Plug the hole in your head.
Being forced to join a club involuntarily reflects nothing about anyone’s ideology.
You are intellectually slothful and vapid. You had nothing of use to add to this discussion but white noise.
.
.
>> “Trump’s choices are not well thought out...” <<
Trump’s first choice at NSA was perfectly thought out, as can be seen by the volume of attack against him by the usual Babylonian suspects.
Your accusations are what are not well thought out.
.
.
>> “So, every member must be a de facto globalist?” <<
Pickled craniums are difficult to think with.
.
You don't like my opinions. That's OK, it's a free country (Free Republic).
e-s: . . . and false accusation . . ."
But now you're flat-out calling me a liar.
e-s: . . . against people about whom you know absolutely nothing.
And now you think you can read my mind, a deliberate offense against this forum. Then further:
e-s: You have born false witness against many without name.
You're doubling down on personalizing your attack, to which I object. Do not post any more replies that are personal attacks. This is not the first time you have taken this approach with me, and it's very irritating.
.
You’re full of crap.
The vast majority of CFR members are there by force through employment with a multi-national corporation.
.
.
>> “But now you’re flat-out calling me a liar.” <<
In your twisted mind I’m sure that you have created alternate realities to justify your false attacks.
.
Yeah. I’ve checked your profile and see why you might imagine that.
.
The point of a prestigious job moron.
Go back to your news stand, a bus is coming.
.
.
Actually we all know from your wacked out posts. No imagination is required.
.
OK, Napoleon.
If you value a prestigious job above patriotism I have no respect for you or anything you have to say. I hope your butt kissing serves you well on your rise through the ranks of corporate toadies.
Agree - almost thought you had misinterpreted one of my comments but saw that you had responded to one I was disagreeing with. Lots of concern trolls who don’t seem to be able to go 5 minutes w/o trying to find some reason to feel disappointed in or betrayed by President Trump - they’d be clamoring for Reagan to be impeached by now....
You’re a complete dipshit.
Complying with a company’s policy is no assault on anyone’s patriotism.
You’re just going out of your way to criticize good appointments.
.
The Neo-cons won when the CIA took out Flynn. That’s just how it is. On the upside no way that there’s no chance of a war with Russia under Trump which is still light years better than Hillary or the rest.
.
To a rational person, the goals of the org are irrelevent if you are not participating in the advancement of those goals.
To a deep dipshit like you, anything you can do to defile a person is A-OK if it helps your irrational agitprop float along the sewer.
Thanks for sharing your life profile with us.

I haven’t had to make any “weak willed” choices at any time; I’m a self employed professional engineer.
You are off in dreamland looking for a flimsy reason to condemn some of the finest public servants we have.
F___ you and your kind!
You are a complete drag on society.
