Disagree with Trump on this one, it's a States Rights issue.

No, I don't smoke pot. I don't smoke anything. I don't do drugs and I barely have a glass of wine during the holidays.

“When you see something like the opioid addiction crisis blossoming in so many states around this country, the last thing we should be doing is encouraging people...”

Marijuana is a replacement for opioids, and is not addictive.
Street marijuana is also the Mexican mafia’s number one cash cow.

“When you see something like the opioid addiction crisis blossoming in so many states around this country, the last thing we should be doing is encouraging people... there is still a federal law that we need to abide by when it comes to recreational marijuana and drugs of that nature.”

Is there a connection between legalized marijuana in Colorado and opioid abuse in West Virginia?

Do we have example of a guy in West Virginia going to his doctor and demanding a script for Oxycontin because pot is legal in Colorado?

Im not a smoker but I really think Trump should leave this issue alone. If anything let the states decide. This is nothing but a lose lose.

I would submit that marijuana is not nearly the gateway to drug abuse that prescription drugs are.

Pro-pot groups thought the Feds would turn a blind eye to the cash cow of Fed fines and property confiscation to promote states’ rights (10A).... I mean, how stoned are you?

Until Congress changes the law, the tenth A argument is moot because the Fed likes power and money more than it likes you and freedom. Any argument against this simple fact is wildly wishful thinking.

If it were my decisions, which it’s not. I would tell congress you have 6 months to change the law or not. But at that time I will enforce the law as written. We are a nation of laws, not wants and emotions.

The problem with legalization is twinfold. One pitfall is that state residents who use the drug make themselves unmarketable to the federal government for anything from miltary service to federal employment, and security clearances. The second problem is how does a state determine if one is driving under the influence, and how long after partaking does one remain in a state illegal to drive a motor vehicle? I believe people who are ADD and AHAD are destroyed by the use pot, they cannot cope as do normal people who may have more/larger active brain mass. Trump is right that the federal government has a say on DRUGS in this country - he is trying to stop the drugs coming into the USA, from Mexico, S. America and Asia/SE Asia, Mid East. Regulated selling of drugs as prescriptions might be possilbe but for those ADD,AHAD people it is a serious no go. States Rights Issue maybe but since illegal drugs transit US Boarders or state lines jurisdiction is in question - the federal government does have the FDA - and the FDA is the bottomline on allowance/usage of drugs and supplements.

Bad idea. I don’t use drugs but the W.O.D. is a Constitutional disaster. Trump needs to leave this alone. Focus on what got him elected!

The country doesn’t want another round of Drug War. This is a bigly mistake.

Ultimately when you have the majority of Americas wanting legalization, and voting for it in a lot of the biggest states, enforcing it on the federal level becomes impossible. It’s just a matter of time.

My experience with pot was in Vietnam. A sandwich bag in those days was $5. Some guys rolled the tobacco out of their cigs and filled them with pot.

When I was out with a pot smoker, and I could tell because their eye lid edges were a bright pink, I would tell them no smoking while were out. And, don't fall asleep and get me killed because I would come back to haunt them and if I survived I would kill them myself.

Here in Washington State, the government wanted it legal for the money and only the money. Nevermind the kids breathing second-hand pot smoke. And, never mind the danger on the roads with someone who is stoned.

Couple the pot smokers with the alcohol impaired, it is dicey on the roads.

Nonsense. Marijuana use is likely to decrease the need for opioids. Recreational marijuana is a state issue.

No constitutional authority.

One thing about Ron Paul. He is the only one in my lifetime to proclaim when he was in congress the first thing he asked about a bill is “Is it constitutional.”

For ONCE, I’d applaud the MSM if they would ask, “By what authority...”

Not that that’s stopped Fedzilla in the slightest.

Trump can lose a lot of voters this way.

I don’t smoke, but most boomers and everyone younger has experienced marijuana all their lives, maybe just in people around them. We know it is not the boogeyman the Feds make it out to be.

DJT needs to get on board this train, just like we got on his train.
