It also stops x-ray, gamma rays, cosmic rays
And the foam doesnât just stop bullets. It destroys themâ¦this foam decimates bullets into dust.
Why?
There is no explanation in the article as to why this foam does these things.
It just doesnt make any sense. It is not a microfoam or anything that looks hytech and difficult to make. In fact it looks pretty low tech
Wow, pretty amazing if it pans out.
This will be great for our troops and law enforcement.
The movie really sucked and I was so disappointed. Seems like Hollywood just uses the titles of books then makes a movie that has nothing to do with the book...
A prime example: Robert Heinlein’s Starship Troopers......
“Decimates? That word does not mean what you think it means, Ms. Barrie.”
I fought that battle for decades but I think even the Oxford Dictionary now acknowledges it to mean destroyed or reduced significantly and you and I and other word Nazis are left screaming that it means one out of ten. sigh. I sometimes wonder why I am so well educated.
If this material were really worth anything they’d be keeping their mouths shut. Breathless press releases mean scientists are looking for more funding when they don’t deserve it.
That’s pretty damn interesting. One should learn something new every day. That bit of info will take me through the weekend :-)
Great post, good tech, though I heard about this 10 years ago.
The anchor asking questiosn should have been the female, the ARMOR specialist should have been the DUDE.
Why is it that the MORE masculine the subject matter (football, for example) the more broadcast executives feel that subject MUST be covered by a FEMALE...?
It’s ridiculous.
Segment on yarn and SEWING:
Should the field expert be a DUDE..? No.
Segment on childbirthing —dude? No.
Segment on crushing beer cans against forehead: A chick? NO.
IT IS FREAKING EASY.
I’m fascinated. Gamma rays can be stopped with several inches of lead, concrete or steel. Wouldn’t it be easier to bulk up the ship rather than try to encase the astronaut?

They both sounded like complete buffoons with the stumbling Val-Speak.
When it comes to Starship Troopers, no, I don’t want know more.
Well, the movie had very little to do with the book. The book had no bugs shooting plasma streams out their butts...................
Maybe Marco Rubio was onto something.
As I understand it, nothing stops neutrinos.
.
All that kinetic energy has to go somewhere.
Well, that’s not good .....!!!!
You need that bullet to match it to a weapon.
Cool beans and at my school, too.
Then there is meaning derived from popular use. That will eventually replace the top slot in the ol’ dictionary.
