Donald Trump’s stunning election win has some Californians so upset that they want to secede from the United States. A group calling itself Yes California has organized a petition drive for a referendum in the spring 2019 election to demand a convention of states to approve “Calexit,” which would recreate the Republic of California of 1850. Louis Marinelli writes that the movement “is about California taking its place in the world, standing as an equal among nations.”

Taking one’s place in the world is something Marinelli knows about, as the New York Times discovered. His place in the world isn’t California at all, but Yekaterinburg — deep in Russia:

Yekaterinburg is, among other things, the place the Czar and his family were massacred in 1918, in part because the Czechs were about to capture the city and the Reds didn’t want the Imperial family to escape to Europe.

As late as the 1960s there were reports that extreme Russian nationalists in Moscow had maps on their walls showing Alaska down to northern California as still belonging to Russia from the days when Russia colonized there. How do you spell reconquista in Cyrillic?

With CA. being responsible for 33% of welfare recipients nation wide, how in the HELL do they plan to pay for this when they CALEXIT!!! HEY MOONBEAM I live in CA. go ahead and EXIT it will be BETTER for the rest of the country. We can move our ports to ANYWHERE with a coast line I am sure FL has plenty of room!!!
