Funny you should post this, because the notion of “holding two ideas in mind at one time” has come to my mind often, during the past few days.
It was F. Scott Fitzgerald who said or wrote (maybe it was in ‘The Crackup’):
“The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function.”
We are living in complicated times.
