Controlling "exactly what people think" is the job of the media, MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski boldly declared Wednesday morning.
While discussing President Trump's entreaties to the American people to remain skeptical of the press, Bzezinski worried that if the economy turns south, Americans may end up trusting him over the media.
"And it could be that while unemployment and the economy worsens, he could have undermined the messaging so much that he can actually control exactly what people think," Brzezinski said. "And that, that is our job."
SCARBOROUGH: "Exactly. That is exactly what I hear. What Yamiche said is what I hear from all the Trump supporters that I talk to who were Trump voters and are still Trump supporters. They go, 'Yeah you guys are going crazy. He's doing -- what are you so surprised about? He is doing exactly what he said he is going to do.'"
BRZEZINSKI: "Well, I think that the dangerous, you know, edges here are that he is trying to undermine the media and trying to make up his own facts. And it could be that while unemployment and the economy worsens, he could have undermined the messaging so much that he can actually control exactly what people think. And that, that is our job."
The comment failed to raise any eyebrows from her co-panelists. Instead, her co-host, Joe Scarborough, said that Trump's media antagonism puts him on par with Mussolini and Lenin.
SCARBOROUGH: "Its the -- it's the ground noise that he is throwing out there also, whether he is questioning, Mark, the legitimacy of federal judges to do what they have done since Marbury v. Madison. It's when he says the media is the, quote --"
BRZEZINSKI: "Enemy."
SCARBOROUGH: "-- 'enemy of the people', where he sounds like Mussolini or Lenin which obviously causes concern that phrase right there makes him sound more like a dictator in training, when he sends Stephen Miller out and says, basically the president has absolute power, he shall not be questioned."
Scarborough also accused Trump's base of having a "blind spot" on the issue of illegal immigration.
"We have an economy, lets face it, we have an economy that is built on illegal immigration," Scarborough said. "We have an economy that is built on that. That is why I say why dont you just legalize it?"
ESAD, Mika, you little nothing-burger tart.
Because you're not telling the entire truth...We have an economy built on illegal immigration and massive outsourcing of our manufacturing jobs to China and Mexico...And that economy sucks...But you fake newscasters don't want us to know that...You're trying to cover it up...

D’oh! MSNBC,not CNN!
Exactly what the American freedom loving people have a problem with! Propaganda belongs in communist, socialist and dictator countries, NOT THE USA!
lol
It’s cute that they think they control what people think.
Quite obviously that is not the case. If it ever was, it is not any longer.
Mika thinks very highly of herself.
Joe’s and Mika’s view is the same as the KGB’s view of their authority to “shape the views” of the Soviets under their rule.
The Soviet ruling class, too, hated and were not tolerant of any views outside the ruling elite’s view. They were known as refusniks and tossed in work camps and/or tortured in prisons.
Joe and Mike sound more like Mao or Stalin that Trump sounds like Hitler.
Already seem like enemy islamist facilitators to me.
Yup
..and taco trucks. Don’t forget taco trucks.
PING!!!

Thanks, Red Badger
The media and the left (the same thing) are doing remarkable jobs of projecting their own worst vices onto Trump and his supporters. And they seem oblivious to the irony and hypocrisy of it all.
Projection is a hallmark of lefty liberalism. Accuse others of what you do because that (in their minds, at least) excuses your own behavior..............
No, but there are pockets.
Still, get ‘em moving. I’ll deal with whatever pain.
We can all speculate but who has even a broad understanding. I think it is safe to say there would be fallout, But, let it begin.
I’m sure that along with whatever disruptions there will be collateral benefits.
Let’s start them heading back.
Project much?! On the other hand, the bright side is that she’s being honest. These are her beliefs.
