Why Trump wants you to hate the media
cnn.com ^ | 2/18/17 | Frida Ghitis

(CNN)If you watched President Trump's astonishing press conference on Thursday, you might be forgiven for concluding that the most urgent problem facing America is that the media "is out of control." Some media "is fantastic," the president allowed. But on the whole, journalism is plagued by "false, horrible, fake reporting." It's clear that America's new President has chosen his new best enemy. Now that the campaign is over and it's not very useful to drive the crowds into a frenzy of hatred against Hillary Clinton, Trump has found the new direction in which to focus his supporters' animosity. But this time, the anointed enemy serves an even more useful purpose.

Like I said, I don’t know if that is true or not, but...given the things he says, you would think he spent his spare time Freeping from Air Force One!

I loved this exchange at the press conference the other day:

Dear Frida,

Your IQ is pretty low. Your premise is upside down. You obviously live in an echo chamber that eliminates objectivity, truth and reasoning in your head.

Good, patriotic, God-fearing Americans have disliked what the media and news has been doing since the 1960’s: glorifying drug abusers, disrespecting and ridiculing Christians, lying about a war (Cronkite), belittling capitalism, demonizing conservativism, making men look stupid.

Trump simply became our voice, the voice of us forgotten men. More like our primal scream, actually. Your expiration date has passed, Frida. Your heart’s contents have the stench of spoiled milk. And we are dumping you down the drain. Bet on it.

Trump can draw on many Jefferson quotations if he wishes, and that great unwashed mass of "progressive" regressives out there will only remember Jefferson as the one whom they misinterpreted on the so-called "separation of church and state" issue.

Examples:

"At a very early period of my life, I determined never to put a sentence into any newspaper. I have religiously adhered to the resolution through my life, and have great reason to be contented with it. Were I to undertake to answer the calumnies of the newspapers, it would be more than all my own time and that of twenty aids could effect. For while I should be answering one, twenty new ones would be invented. I have thought it better to trust to the justice of my countrymen, that they would judge me by what they see of my conduct on the stage where they have placed me, and what they knew of me before the epoch since which a particular party has supposed it might answer some view of theirs to vilify me in the public eye." --Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Smith, 1798. ME 10:58

"[I have seen] repeated instances of the publication of what has not been intended for the public eye, and the malignity with which political enemies torture every sentence from me into meanings imagined by their own wickedness only... Not fearing these political bull-dogs, I yet avoid putting myself in the way of being baited by them, and do not wish to volunteer away that portion of tranquillity, which a firm execution of my duties will permit me to enjoy." --Thomas Jefferson to John Norvell, 1807. ME 11:226

"Conscious that there was not a truth on earth which I feared should be known, I have lent myself willingly as the subject of a great experiment, which was to prove that an administration, conducting itself with integrity and common understanding, cannot be battered down even by the falsehoods of a licentious press, and consequently still less by the press as restrained within the legal and wholesome limits of truth. This experiment was wanting for the world to demonstrate the falsehood of the pretext that freedom of the press is incompatible with orderly government. I have never, therefore, even contradicted the thousands of calumnies so industriously propagated against myself. But the fact being once established, that the press is impotent when it abandons itself to falsehood, I leave to others to restore it to its strength by recalling it within the pale of truth. Within that, it is a noble institution, equally the friend of science and of civil liberty." --Thomas Jefferson to Thomas Seymour, 1807. ME 11:155

"My opinion of the manner in which a newspaper should be conducted so as to be most useful [is]... 'by restraining it to true facts and sound principle only.' Yet I fear such a paper would find few subscribers. It is a melancholy truth, that a suppression of the press could not more completely deprive the nation of its benefits than is done by its abandoned prostitution to falsehood." --Thomas Jefferson to John Norvell, 1807. ME 11:224

"Perhaps an editor might begin a reformation in some such way as this. Divide his paper into four chapters, heading the 1st, Truths. 2nd, Probabilities. 3rd, Possibilities. 4th, Lies. The first chapter would be very short, as it would contain little more than authentic papers and information from such sources as the editor would be willing to risk his own reputation for their truth. The second would contain what, from a mature consideration of all circumstances, his judgment should conclude to be probably true. This, however, should rather contain too little than too much. The third and fourth should be professedly for those readers who would rather have lies for their money than the blank paper they would occupy." --Thomas Jefferson to John Norvell, 1807. ME 11:225

"An editor [should] set his face against the demoralizing practice of feeding the public mind habitually on slander and the depravity of taste which this nauseous aliment induces. Defamation is becoming a necessary of life, insomuch that a dish of tea in the morning or evening cannot be digested without this stimulant. Even those who do not believe these abominations, still read them with complaisance to their auditors, and instead of the abhorrence and indignation which should fill a virtuous mind, betray a secret pleasure in the possibility that some may believe them, though they do not themselves. It seems to escape them, that it is not he who prints, but he who pays for printing a slander, who is its real author." --Thomas Jefferson to John Norvell, 1807. ME 11:225

True. He only hates those liars who are undermining the country and the MSM has been actively lying for 100 years, ever since JP Morgan bought all the major APs and all publishing agencies, etc. The globalists knew by the early 1900s, when Ida Tarbell went wild, that they had to buy up and control all the major “news” outlets or their plan would fail and they would be unable to get us into wars, etc, and make their billions.

All goes back to Wittgenstein. Whomever controls the information/words/images can get anyone to “believe” anything they want-—even the most irrational things like men can be women.

Only with the internet are the masses getting some “truth”, but, we are still getting more lies than truth from the “system”—”news”, universities, govt., skools, etc. The Marxist took over the institutions by the 60s—State dept. by the 40s, universities by the 30s, news by 1916.

Truth will set us free. The Left is desperately trying to get total control over the internet-——and its 1984 if they do!!!! Then, Slavery will be Freedom, Vice will be Virtue—whoops, it is being taught to our children now—and War will be Peace.

I hated CNN long before Trump ever considered running. But please go on and blame it all on Trump since it works better for you than admitting you are idiots, CNN.

The biggest problem in this country is the media. They do not serve the country. They spread ignorance and lies while they suppress essential information.

The article is really an example of distorted thinking and projection by the leftist media. Even the "facts" they cite are hard to believe:

"A recent study by Morning Consult found that the majority of the people find the major media outlets are credible. At the top, ABC News was found credible by 67%, CBS by 65%, the New York Times by 63% and CNN by 60% of the public."

I suspect their survey was conducted in someplace like New York City, or San Francisco. In my neighborhood you could probably divide those numbers by 10 and they'd be more accurate.

...and it’s actually INGENIOUS on Trump’s part.

The “old” Republican way to carefully tune and test a message (talking point) with the hope that the media would be nice and give them the headline (and write-up) they desired. Worked about 10% of the time. The other 90% of the time were hit pieces. But to even get to the 10% Republicans had to be REALLY NICE to the media...and so they were.

The problem with that was that Republicans didn’t fight back the other 90% of the time, so those attacks stuck and kept destroying them. It was only the good fortune of the Democrats moving more and more extreme left (something never reported, by the way) that kept the Republicans alive as a party.

Trump, instead, is telling his people from the outset that the media is constantly lying about him (which is true for at least 90% of the hit pieces). So when Trump’s people see another hit piece, they figure it’s just more fake news, and they brush it off.

He’s NEUTERING the media as a political force, which is why they reacting in such a hysterical way. They didn’t become reporters to report the news, they became reporters to MOVE THE COUNTRY, to the left, of course - and Trump is stopping them...and without even having to censor them or anything else...he is simply fighting back.

Ain’t that the truth! I can remember driving through Atlanta on the way to Florida 20 years ago with a CNN LIES bumper sticker, and getting thumbs up and people blowing horns in agreement. It’s been a long time coming!

I do not know why Miller didn’t stay.

As I say, though, these are hellish jobs if you aren’t a lib. You, your family, your friends will all be attacked; you can’t send you kids to school that they aren’t ostracized. It’s almost like going on a Mormon mission for 2-4 years, and for not much pay relatively speaking.
