Senators Silent After Meeting With FBI Director Comey

Not much can get between senators and a recess. Except, perhaps, FBI Director James B. Comey.

Members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, along with ex-officio member and Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer, huddled for a total of more than two hours on Friday with Comey.

The FBI director’s visit was not announced publicly, and it’s possible members of the Capitol Hill press corps only found out because he was spotted in the hallways and entered a secure room used for intelligence briefings.

But leaving that secure room in the Capitol Visitor Center, senators declined to even confirm the presence of the FBI director, much less the substance of the meeting. Those who did talk generally only gave “no comments” or referred questions to Intelligence Chairman Richard M. Burr and ranking member Mark Warner.

Professional courtesy on Comey’s part: remind potentially over zealous Senators of the consequences of having a verifiable association with an individual suspected of leaking classified material.

After Comey’s performance in front of the Government Oversight Committee I lost all respect for him. He needs to go.

I wonder if the Director briefed the congress critters on the reality of the law being applied to congress critters if they leak information. Then he briefed them and warned them again, his office would take aggressive measures should the information be leaked.

Whatever happened, the new administration is throwing down a line in the sand and informing everyone, break the law regarding classified information at your own peril.

Personally, I regret the Mike Flynn had to go, and believe he was set up to some degree. And he might have been his own worst enemy in discussions with Mr. Pence, but still after what we witnessed with HRC, a hard line had to be drawn.

Interesting how the first 8 paragraphs of this article was all about the secret visit that Comey had, and that no one is talking about what was discussed.

Then the last 2 paragraphs are disjointed from the previous 8 paragraphs and all of sudden talk about potential Russian interference in the election and Michael Flynn.

This is a form of #FAKENEWS! The last two paragraphs attempting to tie in Michael Flynn with the Comey visit. No one told this author about the connection. Or did they? If someone did tell author then there is a leak. If no one did tell this author then it is #FAKENEWS!
