NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A total of 18 people were fired from one business after joining the nation-wide protest "A Day Without Immigrants."
Thousands of people participated in the movement across the country, including people in Middle Tennessee.
In Nolensville, nearly 20 employees at Bradley Coatings, Incorporated told their supervisors on Wednesday they'd be taking part as well. Then, on Thursday they were told they no longer had jobs.
"We are the team leaders directly under the supervisors and they informed us last night that we could not go back to work and the boss said we were fired," one employee told us.
The former employee asked to remain anonymous but had this message to his former boss.
"I would tell him he was unfair, after working for them for so many years, gave him our best. They could not understand that it was just one day. We were going to make up that day on a Sunday, but they didn't understand that, and it was not the best way. They didn't give us an opportunity and just told us we were fired," he said.
"Tennessee is an employment-at-will state which basically means an employer can end your employment at any time without reason or cause. Of course, there are a lot of different stipulations, civil rights issues that could stop them from doing that," Department of Labor and Workforce Development spokesman, Chris Cannon said.
Bradley Coatings, Inc.'s attorney released the following statement:
"Bradley Coatings, Incorporated (BCI) is a family-owned, Nashville-based business that provides commercial painting services to its clients on a very demanding schedule. Established in 1986, BCI has always celebrated diversity and supported the immigrant community. This past Wednesday night, certain employees of BCI informed their leadership that they would not be at work the following day. Because of the time-sensitive nature of the jobs these employees were assigned to, all employees were told that they would need to show up for work or they would be terminated. On Thursday, the majority of BCIs employees fulfilled their obligations to our clients, but eighteen employees did not. Regretfully, and consistent with its prior communication to all its employees, BCI had no choice but to terminate these individuals. The reason these employees missed workto engage in peaceful demonstrationshad nothing to do with BCIs decision to terminate them. BCI regrets this situation, but it has contracted with its clients to complete work on a schedule set by the clients general contractor. BCI will review its procedures in an effort to avoid similar issues in the future, and will continue to provide timely service to its clients and support to the Nashville immigrant community." - Robert Peal, Company Attorney

They use wonderful words like celebrate, inclusive, diverse, etc. How could anyone not join in? Except they always misuse the words so they don’t mean what they normally mean or they are utter nonsense. My former employer had posters reading “Strength and joy through diversity.” They were similar to communist (Nazi?) posters reading “strength and joy through victory.” The artwork was a circle of different colored Gumby type characters in all colors but tan.
It seems that some, NOT ALL, immigrants need to learn to appreciate what opportunities they have here. Consider this USA Appreciation 101.
They should get fired. What the hell is THAT? A day without immigrants?? Excuse me but there is a HUGE difference between “immigrants” and “ILLEGALS”. Just about everybody in this country has an “immigrant” in their family tree so what the hell does that mean, a day without immigrants? It’s freakin’ stupid because all they are doing is giving the left ammunition.

The evil of federal contracting is that it preferences companies that have diversity policies and active HR departments promoting it.
It is cheaper to socially engineer a workforce than build a better jet or cheaper missile. So you have federal contractors from Boeing down to their suppliers having SJW-minded people in HR for filling out federal paperwork on diversity metrics to giving training. They get extra credit for tying raises and promotions to diversity training and becoming an ally - in short, publicly endorse these views and actively promote it if you want more money or a future.

Went to one about 15 yrs ago. Typical professor type complete with patches on his corduroy jacket. Wanted us to look at the person next to us and tell them what we DIDN’T like about them. I protested loudly as to why we are suppose to do such a negative exercise. We didn’t do it. There was more stupidity, but I got a day’s pay for adding color commentary to the rest of the session. That was fun.

Its how PP gets away with its abortion mills, they cite they provide “womens” health services as a ruse to cover their mills. The result is to be against PP is to be against anything that would aid womens’ health. Things like guest worker program AKA migrant workers, green card holders AKA approved immigrate, get lopped into illegal immigrant to promote their agenda. Who would be against these two groups, no one except a complete isolationist zealot which I do not think most individuals are inasmuch as we all know we hale from immigrants no matter how far back our family tree goes.

Fired for cause allows no workers comp but welfare — yep. People should do community service 8 hours a day on welfare or no eat.
