Can we please move the deluge of Catholic-related articles out of news/activism?

This morning, as has been the case for weeks now, over half of the articles have been about Catholic church inside baseball. While I'm sure that is of interest to some, it merely squeezes out stuff that is more interesting to others. While I appreciate the importance of the topics to a few, let's keep in mind that it is not at all to others. I don't want to start a flame war but the nuances of some Latin-named paper by some unknown cardinal in a village in Germany (just a hyperbolic example) are wholly unimportant to this good old Protestant. There is a specific forum for discussion of religion.

I dont want to see it shut down at all, however bleeding over into News/Activism creates a problem because not all enjoy the debate and can become offended. It should remain in the RF, so those who want to read and participate can do so, and those who do not can do so as well. I agree 100%. There are times when Catholic news is general news (e.g. papal election), but most of the recent stories I don't think fit that category. Something that the mods can straighten out I'm sure.

Thank for proving my point.

I guess I could have indicated that by heretical I meant that he was espousing Protestant principles, but that would have been inflammatory.

I wonder where
ebb tide is in all of this, haven't noticed that one on this thread. Has that out-going one ran out on us, or possibly just feeling low?
Reading through the thread, more than a few comments holding notes of complaint brought to mind pinging him/her to the comment, along with pinging to other-side-of-the-coin type of comments, including your own insightful contributions, such as at #75 though I may not entirely agree with "what happens in the religious world will eventually affect what happens everywhere" depending perhaps on how one were to define 'the religious world' for starters.
The 'ol yin-yang thing(?) in action? ... speaking of religion(s)...

I have to agree with you. I think it has made Free Republic appear as a Roman Catholic website instead of a Pro-God, Pro-life, Pro-family, Pro-America one.

Can we blame Catholics for not making them CAUCUS threads?

While the current division in the Catholic Church may seem like inside baseball, the theological and geopolitical significance of a heretical pope are profound, and will shake all of Christendom.
Even ME??

I agree, but on the other hand, as an old Catholic, it is fun finding I am a Saint or Sinner depending on the current Popes digestion.
As an old Protestant, I have found that I am a Saint AND a Sinner; according to what the BIBLE tells me!

All religious discussion should be kept to the religion forum,
Damn straight!
Like I told Wormood; all this religious stuff out in the open will just get folks confused!
