Foreign-policy hawk Bill Kristol Tweeted out his preference for a political victory by the deep state above the nations laws and over President Donald Trumps voters and policies, amid an increasing furor over the forced resignation of Gen. Mike Flynn.
Bill Kristol: "Obviously strongly prefer normal democratic and constitutional politics. But if it comes to it, prefer the deep state to the Trump state."

Pardon my ignorance, perhaps someone can explain to me what a “Deep state” is......
Kristol is the MCain of commentators. A backstabber through and through.
Why is anyone paying any attention to this loser?
Krystal needs to slither back to the Democrat Party from whence he came.
Would you say his preference for “Deep State” over “Trump State” makes him sound more like a Trotskyite, Leninite, or Groucho Marxian?
Why doesn’t he just say he prefers a statist government, as long as the people he associates with get to rule?
noun: deep state; plural noun: deep states
a body of people, typically influential members of government agencies or the military, believed to be involved in the secret manipulation or control of government policy.
I've heard it also called the shadow government if that helps.
CGato
A Trotskyite, just like his father.
Bill Kristol is not worth reading, he is so often wrong.
I do not bother reading him. And he has destroyed the credibility of his Daddy’s publication, too.... his Dad was not always correct on everything but he usually wrote pretty intelligently most of the time and he did try to maintain some credibility. Too bad his boy failed to catch the pass
“Deep State” is the name for a shadow government. Bill Clinton admitted late in his Presidency that “there is a government within the government, and I don’t run it.”
This shadow government can be made up of people at the highest levels of the CFR, CIA, Trilateral Commission and career officers of various branches and organizations within government. This is why no matter who is elected President, nothing changes. All major decisions go through them.
“The era of Ronald Reagan is over..!”
BIll Kristol, upon first election win of Obama
Sounds like treason to me. Am I wrong?
It is crystal clear who is on the side of America and who, like Kristol, is only advancing their own agenda and special interests.
I believe the intent is to label folks embedded (burrowed) into the belly of the government bureaucracy, that remain administration after administration acting out in ways we wouldn’t appreciate.
The press will give time and space to any 'maverick'... meaning a Republican willing to bash other Republicans..
Anyone notice that there are NO democrat 'mavericks'... if a dem bashes a dem the press shuns the person.
deep state
noun
noun: deep state; plural noun: deep states
a body of people, typically influential members of government agencies or the military, believed to be involved in the secret manipulation or control of government policy.
“the deep state and its policy of allowing extremist ideologies to flourish may be the actual issues of concern”
Krystal used to be bad. Then he got worse. Now he’s just stark raving fruit-cake nuts.
He thinks non-elected mole entities withing the government are the real people who should be running this nation.
Their goals, motives, and associates are not important and the general public doesn’t need to know any of these things.
I guess that’s his idea of open transparent governance.
The man is sick in the head.
As I understand it, the “Deep State” is the entrenched bureaucracy in DC in every agency that leans left; votes Democrat; has been growing since Bush the Elder and accelerated under Obama; happily enacts the policies of liberal administrations, drags its feet when enacting those of whomever they perceive as “conservative” (even under thoroughly establishment administrations like the Bushes); does what it must to get by and anything at all that will help itself to grow and excercise it’s petty power.
The dream of every Deep Stater is to retire with two or three government pensions for their “service”—to the State.
