Not surprised. Demand has prices sky-high already.
I’ve been trying to get a pup for years, but alas, a fixed income won’t stretch to the purchase price.
Oh, well, as Jim Morrison said, the future’s uncertain and the end is always near.
Ever consider a rescue dog or a mix?
I paid 225$ for my rescue GSD. She was 1.5 years old at the time, and weighed 52 lbs, because she had been abandoned and starved.
Best money I ever spent. Turns out she was priceless. She’s about 5 now, best friend I ever had.
I can’t even begin to tell you how rescuing a GSD enriched my life.
There are German Shepard rescues. A friend adopted two, one is a Belgian or Dutch Shepard. They are hard to come by but if willing to drive to meet them, this might make it possible. Good luck!
I lived next to “Millionairs Road” in Milwaukee. Big mansions. There was an old lay that would take walks. She had a trained German Shepherd that circled around her as she walked, You did not want to be on the same side of the street as those two!
Check with the SPCA. They have all kinds of dogs. I have had three rescues, mutts, and they have all been good ones.
