President Trump adviser Roger Stone tweeted Tuesday that the "purge" of former national security advisor Michael Flynn is "Pearl Harbor" for Trump loyalists.
Stone blamed White House chief of staff Reince Priebus for Flynn's resignation after just 24 days on the job.
"Reince's purge of Flynn a 'Pearl Harbor' for Trump loyalists. Hope the midget is ready to rumble," wrote Stone.
Stone's tweet comes as Breitbart News, the populist right-wing website once led by President Trumps chief strategist, Stephen Bannon, published a scathing report on Tuesday stating that Priebus was responsible for the administration's rocky start while speculating that his future in the administration may also be short.
Trump named retired Army Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg as acting national security adviser following Flynn's resignation. Kellogg previously served as Flynns chief of staff on the National Security Council.
From day one it has been a succession of fire predictions and bomb throwers and Trump just keeps marching forward and dispatching his distractors
Stone sees Trump every once in a while. Priebus may have stonewalled Stone for access.
With that being said, Trump's folks will have to watch Every single word that comes out of their mouth. Every action, every word, will be used against them, no matter how innocent it was intended.
Looks the same to me, also. Conway has overfilled her oats bowl, caught up in her love and enthusiasm for Trump.
She will season with a humbling or two and make the grade, but you’re re right about Christie.
He is perched around the corner if needed to swoop in and pick up the pieces.
Interestingly, Trump's refreshing no-holds-barred, "politically incorrect" approach to his campaign was exactly the approach that Christie took to beat Jon Corzine in a heavily Democratic state.
Palinizing x 1,000,000 the Trump administration all over again.
Unbelievably filthy and anti-American.
Stop the panic. New hires frequently do not work out. At least Trump has the intelligence and backbone to cut his losses and move forward.
And I have no doubt he is going to continue to move forward at a blistering pace.
Tonight on Lou Dobbs, conservative strategist Gayle Trotter said “Reince Priebus has a target on his back.”
Kelly Ann Conway’s judgment and her delivery played a large part in getting Trump elected. His message was clear and direct, as it should be now. Instead of speaking directly to the American people about the nonsense going on throughout the country, but especially in Washington, Trump continues to communicate with bumper sticker tweets. Furthermore, I have yet to see any indication that he’s ready to take on his opponents in a straightforward manner; he hasn’t even mentioned the almost absolute authority granted to the president in matters of foreign policy and immigration.
Trump was willing to throw Mike Flynn under the bus, but has no interest in pursuing Hillary Clinton’s criminal activities nor the seditious activity of George Soros and his pet, Barack Obama. It should be crystal clear to him that Flynn’s enemies are his own and he did them a great service - and himself a great disservice - by firing Mike Flynn, one of his most ardent and longtime supporters. Read the December 9th article from The Intercept at the link below; Flynn’s detractors are almost all universally #NEVERTRUMPers:
https://theintercept.com/2016/12/09/top-national-security-figures-want-trump-to-cancel-the-michael-flynn-clown-show/
He will not mollify the Democrats, the media and the GOP elites by firing or distancing himself from the members of his staff that they find objectionable. It hasn’t worked for the Republican Party and it won’t work for him.
Obama-loyal “national security” operatives bugged Flynn’s call, not Priebus.
“Trump was willing to throw Mike Flynn under the bus”
I have been perusing Free Republic and have run across that whine about fifteen times already. You are just like the rest of us — we have no clue as to what is really going on, except that someone in lying and some people in the intelligence community committed treason.
Good post! Thank you.
Especially frustrating that Trump will not go after HRC.
Flynn was loyal to Trump and did not deserve this.
Good post.
Such BS. Stone couldn’t keep a gig with Trump.
Bannon is still there, and if Bannon is ok with this, and Trump is ok, I’m ok. It’s Flynn’s fault for lying. Roger needs to get out of his bunker.
Sometimes you need to be far removed from the fray to see clearly.
Agreed.
Appreciate your insight, but it’s not entirely correct. I’ve worked in and with the Intelligence Community for over 40 years, I’ve known Mike Flynn for 23 years (I was his instructor at one point in his career), I know a fair number of his detractors and I worked in the White House (Homeland Security and National Security Council Staffs) for 15 months after 9/11. I still work very closely with several different agencies in the Intelligence Community, albeit in a different capacity (consulting) than I did previously. So yes, I do have at least a little more insight into what’s going on than the average person.
I would refer you to the following, obviously unclassified articles for some insight into Flynn’s conversation with Ambassador Kislyak and who Mike’s and Trump’s enemies are:
Mike Hayden, mentioned prominently in the second article is a devout #NEVERTRUMPer, was a hyper-political Air Force general officer and a pompous ass, who assumes he knows everything about Islam and counterterrorism by virtue of his rank, despite the fact that his operational intelligence experience was very limited.
Thank you for those links.
I think from what I’ve read Stone is suggesting that Preibus in is the one behind the scenes stirring the pot of poop up and brought it to a boil so that Trump then had no choice but to get rid of Flynn. Preibus is a mole, serving The Establishment first, Trump second!
Preibus is Ryan’s very very best friend forever.
He may find out that he’s feeding Trump plenty of rope for himself to be hanged.
