They’ll then move illegals into the “abandoned” homes after Trump fixes the dam.

You might be doing everything you can now, but not before.

CA is the world’s 6th largest economy.

Help to be:

Any existing Federal manpower and equipment needed for the next 3 months, to help mitigate present Oroville crisis.

“Free” DOJ investigation into any criminal negligence covered by existing statutes. (Well, a lot of bad decisions NOT covered by statutes surely exist too, but, for the purposes of this situation, we’ll leave them to the political arena.)

$5 Billion short term loan for flood mitigation & recovery. 10% interest rate, must be repaid in full in 5 years.

Federal disaster areas designated as warranted.

Additional State (CA) responsibilities:

CA to expedite additional $10 Billion per year STATE FUNDED program for flood control and water storage, for the next 10 years. This is in addition to already “baselined” water management expenditures. FedGov will contribute planning assistance and cooperation with Army Corps of Engineers, but these will not be Corps of Engineers lakes or projects, unless CalGov is willing to bankroll COE projects. Funding to come out of existing CA State taxes, or, bonds. (Bye-bye, bullet train.)

No more Federal Flood insurance for new or replacement building in floodplains. (This should apply everywhere, not just in CA.)

CA to cooperate fully with all Federal Laws. In return, FedGov to eliminate (by the number of words in the regulations) 1/4 of all non-security related regulations binding on the State of CA by 1/1/2021. (Acronyms, abbreviations, etc., count as the full name of the acronym, etc.)

I’m sure FReepers can add additional creative suggestions or tweaks!

Brown better get help fast because there is a potential danger of a Baldwin Hills Dam-like collapse, and that could send a HUGE wall of water down the Feather River watershed with catastrophic results. And we're talking potential damage downstream that could well exceed US$1 TRILLION as massive amounts of farmland are wiped out and millions of lives are suddenly at risk. They may have to seriously consider evacuating all of the Marysville/Yuba City area and also the northwestern corner of Sacramento County and the southwest portion of Place County.

Not only will the high-speed choo-choo not be available for evaluation, the Union Pacific is routing trains around that part of the state. Their tracks are washed away in places. So even the slow-speed choo-choo trains aren’t available.

They could have dropped rocks into the fissure for 1% of the cost of doing it by helicopter if they had started during their "drought."

Wait up...the spillway was 2 ft thick concrete and was demolished....those bags of rocks will just be tossed out.

Yeah. Did you see those enormous chunks of concrete from the spillway getting tossed out a couple days ago? The rocks I see them marshaling in the yards are nowhere big enough. They’ll be spit out like peas.

The problems with the main spillway were developing at least as far back as 2013. An inspection in 2015 was “cursory” at best.

Bit ironic that the demented former Jesuit seminarian Jerry Brown gets to imagine that he is Moses with raging waters tormenting him and blocking his path.

Goodness. Sounds worst case all around even though no substantial flooding has occurred yet.

On the radiator, if it is damaged to the point you can’t keep refilling with water on the trip, any chance of removing the radiator and driving it in another vehicle to a radiator shop to the north?

Best wishes to you and yours.

We have a “damn dam” problem now.

But again the global warmists were so SURE there would never again be enough rain to tax the “damn dam” structure.

Oops, now the global coolists are having a say.

Also, sometimes a radiator can be run unpressurized — the cap set on loosely just enough to cover the filler neck and stay put. Filled with water only, it won’t even make too bad of a mess from the leaks it may still have.

Really? And you know this how??? You are clueless.

You really are full of it because that is not what happened at all.

There was erosion under the cement on the spillway and when they released the water the unsupported section of the spillway could not support the weight and collapsed into the the empty cavern. After that is when the sides of the spillway collapsed and the water escaped down both sides.

All of this is on video just so you can watch and get it straight. If you watch the vid and pay close attention you may also notice a total lack of rebar in the rubble.....

Are you getting a clue yet?

We are in cali, northern cali to be exact.

This dam is a cali project from inception to completion and all of it is on moonbeams head...

Trump should tell him to send a million illegals up there with shovels to fix the damn dam.....

I thank God the sheriff made that call.

I’m not from the area and have only been through it a few times.

I pray everyone will be okay.

Brown and the dumbos in Sacramento were more concerned about legalizing THC, taxing plastic grocery bags and creating an ammo registry.

In their incompetent zeal they missed a few safety issues along the way...

“Officials were warned the Oroville Dam emergency spillway wasn’t safe. They didn’t listen.”

Wow another uninformed poster.

There was unexplained erosion under the spillway. This was bad maintenance not operator error.

In fact this problem was noted a dozen years ago and nothing was done about it.

The whole purpose of dams is to hold water behind them. That is what they were trying to do and got caught with too much still in the lake so they opened the spillway just as lakes do all over the country all the time.

This problem originated from a bad design or a contractor taking shortcuts. Only time and investigation will tell on that one.

Clue

Check out the vids and see if you see any sign of rebar in the rubble field.
