Drivers who run into protesters would be protected from lawsuits under new proposed legislation in Tennessee.
The bill offered by a pair of Republicans would apply only to instances in which drivers are “exercising due care” when they strike someone “participating in a protest or demonstration” that is “blocking traffic in a public right-of-way.”
A second clause in the half-page bill clarifies, “A person shall not be immune from civil liability if the actions leading to the injury were willful or wanton.”
That distinction sometimes can be fuzzy. Last month, a man drove through a group of protesters in Nashville and wound up with several of them on his hood. He said they jumped onto the car, they said he struck them.

Great idea. If the protesters are too stupid to move and are able to move and have been given ample warnings then I’d say a good steamrolling might be “unavoidable”... : )

A car coil connected to a carbon fiber strap dragging under the car would convert your car body to a tazer. Might be a good idea to rig it to shut down when your dome light comes on in case you forget to shut it down before you get out...
As it would only work if you touched the car, might be useful to “goose” your way thru a meat wall with your front bumper.
Much of this is covered by the rules covering use of potentially lethal force in self defense. Even though most of us mainly think if guns and knives in this context, both being lethal weapons, cars are also held to be lethal weapons when so used, as in intentionally striking someone. Thus, if one’s car is surrounded by a mob of terrorist thugs who then place the victim in reasonable fear of death or serious bodily harm, the victim the legal right to use his car to escape, even if it means running one or more of them down. The imperative in any such situation is to keep moving.
Mount the flamethrower forward.
I would mount a snowblower grinder on the front of my pickup. I’m sure all but the real idiots would get out of the way.
If it’s on the asphalt it’s the pedestrian’s own ass fault.

I have always liked the idea of diesel flame throwers some guy developed a while back. Click a switch on the dash whoosh! Flame wall to keep rodents away. Will try to find the youtube.
While I agree with such laws, I would prefer laws written that makes it an arrestable crime to block a public street without a permit, & then DEMAND that such a law be strictly enforced.
Then it’s just a hop, skip and a jump to...DEATH RACE 2017!!!
Took 31 posts for someone to say what I’ve been thinking since this was reported the other night on Channel 5 news.
I agree except for the “without a permit” part. There should never be a permit for blocking streets and highways.
Only an idiot WOULDN’T fear for their lives when surrounded by an angry, screaming mob....This is only common sense.
