One of the issues that helped elect President Ronald Reagan in 1980 was the fact that President Jimmy Carter, ironically a Navy veteran, had left the United States military gasping for air with planes that couldnt fly and ships that couldnt sail for lack of trained crews or spare parts or both. Reagan would go on the build his 600-ship navy, start development of missile defense, etc. as part of his two-prong strategy of peace through strength and we win, they lose. It won the Cold War and collapsed the evil empire that was the Soviet Union. At Reagans urging, the people of East Germany, if not Mikhail Gorbachev himself, tore down that wall in Berlin.
After eight years of Barack Hussein Obama as commander-in-chief, the U.S. military is once again gasping for air and the only thing that is collapsing is our ability to resist rearming old enemies like China and Russia, rogue states like Iran and North Korea, and terrorist groups like the Islamic State and al-Qaida. That much was made clear as top officials from all the branches of the military warned Congress that the once-feared arsenal of democracy was rusting away into oblivion:

It is a concept liberals don’t understand at all.
There are some people that shouldn’t be reasoned with. All they understand is muscle. The world is full of those people.
Full disclosure, I didn’t read the whole article....
But when did Trump move away from Peace Through Strength?
Trump has telegraphed this for a year and a half.
What’s really nice is that all these folks handing out their advice on what Trump must do are actually parroting most of what he has already promised and is working toward.
A video has surfaced of Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama talking on his plans for strategic issues such as nuclear weapons and missile defense.
The full text from the video, as released, reads as follows:
Thanks so much for the Caucus4Priorities, for the great work you've been doing. As president, I will end misguided defense policies and stand with Caucus4Priorities in fighting special interests in Washington.
First, I'll stop spending $9 billion a month in Iraq. I'm the only major candidate who opposed this war from the beginning. And as president I will end it.[i.e. not win it]
Second, I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending.
I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems.
I will not weaponize space.
I will slow our development of future combat systems.
And I will institute an independent "Defense Priorities Board" to ensure that the Quadrennial Defense Review is not used to justify unnecessary spending.
Third, I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons. To seek that goal, I will not develop new nuclear weapons; I will seek a global ban on the production of fissile material; and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off hair-trigger alert, and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals.
You know where I stand. I've fought for open, ethical and accountable government my entire public life. I don't switch positions or make promises that can't be kept. I don't posture on defense policy and I don't take money from federal lobbyists for powerful defense contractors. As president, my sole priority for defense spending will be protecting the American people. Thanks so much.

March 2012...
"Obama was talking with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev when neither of them realized that their conversation was being picked up by microphones. Here is what they said:
Obama: "On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved, but it's important for him to give me space."
Medvedev: "Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space. Space for you ..."
Obama: "This is my last election. After my election, I have more flexibility."
Medvedev: "I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir."
"This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility." That statement tells us much about the president's mindset.
The specific mention of missile defense is worrisome enough. Mr. Obama has retreated from the missile defense plan that was negotiated with European allies during the George W. Bush administration.
Apparently, he is signaling Moscow that he intends to retreat further. The clear implication from the president's comments is that he cannot tell the American people before the election what he plans to do after the election.
In addition, there is the phrase "on all these issues," implying more is at stake than just missile defense."
Article: Obama plans double cross on missile defense
When it comes to keeping America safe, we shouldn't be too flexible:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - In his first call as president with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump denounced a treaty that caps U.S. and Russian deployment of nuclear warheads as a bad deal for the United States, according to two U.S. officials and one former U.S. official with knowledge of the call.
When Putin raised the possibility of extending the 2010 treaty, known as New START, Trump paused to ask his aides in an aside what the treaty was, these sources said.
Trump then told Putin the treaty was one of several bad deals negotiated by the Obama administration, saying that New START favored Russia. ...
or,
Most of these articles often leave out that Congress is in charge of what the military budget is. And over the past few decades the GOP has been in charge the most. The GOP never held him in check.
Thank you. This neede one.
There sure are a lot of idiots out there. Trump laid out exactly what he was going to do, and now he’s doing it.
Never-the-less, the NeverTrumpers (don’t know what else could account for this) refused to listen.
So now, in an attempt to polish their resume after such lunacy, the try to tell Trump what he has to do, over a year and a half after he told the public the exact same thing must be done.
So instead of looking ever so conservative, they reveal they skipped the most important year and a half of Conservatism since our founding.
As I said, idiots.
