"Officials are anticipating a failure of the Auxiliary Spillway at Oroville Dam within the next 60 minutes (5:45 p.m.)," the California Department of Water Resources said on Facebook.
The Yuba County Office of Emergency Services said on Facebook an evacuation has been for "all Yuba County on the valley floor."
The city of Marysville and Yuba County have been ordered to evacuate, the Marysville Police Department tweeted.

Thanks for the link !!
At 0:50 you can see the water going over the weir, —plus— water to the left of it.
That’s what some were worried about, that it would go around, and erode that end.
First minute of this show water coming over the part to the left of the weir.... is that the dirt part you mention?
Poetic justice.
Incompetence - can’t be that nobody knew that the dam was not up to snuff if/when rain ever came.
That may be.
It depends on whether, when it was built, its footing was dug down and built on the underlying rock, and thick enough to hold back the water without any dirt on the “dry” side.
I don’t know.
I was going to say that the main dam doesn’t look threatened just the spillways that are suppose to direct the outflows in an orderly fashion without surrounding erosion to the landscapes around the base of the dam. Are they hinting that this erosion may threaten the base of support of the main dam itself?
From the photo I saw yesterday it did not appear to me that the hole in the spillway was eroding back toward the dam; its growth seemed to be only sideways and down.
Yes, that is the flooded parking lot.
OK thanks for that info; I thought it was another spot eroding badly
prayers UP!!
I read they cut the power lines to allow copter access for repairs.
They no doubt have emergency generators to power lights and will have to get many more generators in place so the work can proceed day and night.
Chp chopper view; @ 0:15 shows water over the —dirt— to left of concrete weir.

I lived in West L.A. in the late 70’s, and Gov. Brown was doing as much damage to California as he is today.
Governor Moonbeam
“Medfly” Brown
And here he is again, ladies & gentleman.... back for round 2 of finishing off whatever is left of California.
Many thanks!
I looked at 06:30 to 06:40 & saw that dirt to the left of the concrete weir...
I don't know if they did or not, but the lines look intact on the video posted recently. They may have taken them out of service. I see 3 main transmission lines going out from the switchyard by the dam, basically due west. So they all go the same direction, probably to a main switching substation a couple of miles away would be my guess.
That is inexcusable.
No.
“”The Russians hacked the dam?””
I am sure that is what happened....
I think the solution to the hole in the spillway is to drop Brown and all the legislators from a helicopter in it - forget the boulders....
How do they intend to drop boulders when the hole isn’t even visible through all the water? Well, they’ll just let the same experts run the show, I guess.
