The Trump administration has dropped the federal governments challenge to a nationwide injunction issued last year that blocked the fulfillment of Obama administration guidelines stating that transgender students access to bathrooms and other gender-segregated school facilities was protected under existing federal civil rights law.
The injunction was issued in August by Judge Reed OConnor of the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Texas as part of a lawsuit filed by more than a dozen states over the Obama administrations position that Title IX, the federal law that bans sex discrimination in schools, protects transgender students.
Under that interpretation, transgender students have access to facilities like bathrooms and locker rooms that correspond with their gender identity, a proposition to which social conservatives strongly object. They argue that allowing transgender students to use those facilities poses a threat to the privacy and safety of other students.
The Obama administration appealed the injunction and requested that it apply only to states involved in the lawsuit and not nationwide. Oral arguments in that case were scheduled to begin on Tuesday, but on Friday, the Justice Department withdrew the previous administrations challenge.
The parties are currently considering how best to proceed in this appeal, the department said in a legal brief to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
The decision changed little in the short term because the nationwide injunction has been in effect since August, but it signaled a significant change in the governments approach to transgender issues under President Trump. Mara Keisling, the executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality, called the move a callous attack on the dignity and safety of transgender students.

Impeach Judge Reed OConnor.
Give them an outside porta potty and tell them to enjoy their alone time.
Good to see!
This is not normal and should not be celebrated.
What if a student thinks he is a dog and puts dirty socks on his ears and barks. Are they going to say that is normal and we should celebrate it?
No one deserves “special” rights. the idea was all were supposed to be equal before the law. Obviously, some are more equal. In a truly free society, I would guess someone could be a cross dresser. In theory, if that is all you are doing, it doesn’t hurt anyone (not that I personally think it is right). I think bathrooms are another issue as there is a chance of harm.
Aren’t they in fact arguing that to not allow transsexuals, (in the science community there is no gender, only sex. Farmers don’t gender eggs, they sex them. There is no gender reproduction, only sexual. And while I am on science, the whole xy xx chromosome thing has been “settled science” for a long time.) is harmful to the transsexual? Why is harm to them more of an issue than harm to you or me? Why must we change? Why must we be bilingual to get the job and not the laborer or the migrant worker? Will I be free to not cater to transsexuals? Why is a gun held to our heads to accommodate these people? And it literally is a gun. If we do not comply, the enforcement becomes more and more strict and if we do no comply law enforcement will take you away, and if you refuse to comply then they will do whatever they need to do to take you away, even if it is feet first.
***If you are a woman that likes to stand up when you pee and can direct your stream into a urinal then by all means use either restroom.***
As a woman who has never tried that, I can still say if there is a woman who can do that, she’s got a salami hiding somewhere.
***No one deserves special rights.***
I disagree. I demand all bathroom doors in public restrooms open out instead of in, and I want hand dryers banned and only hands free towels dispensers in all public bathrooms as well.
And I will riot and throw chairs through local business windows if I don’t get what I want.s/
How are your demands special? They serve everyone and inconvenience no one. It is a matter of taste. Sort of like demanding bathrooms be baby blue in color.
Maybe you would prefer this set up?

Have a couple for me.
“I don’t shake it, I kick it.”
God made man and woman and intended them to stay that way.
That’s just not right.
A little chip knocked off of the sexual identity movement. Thank you very much for a little sanity on this, Trump.
Amen to that-dumb and dumber. However, I expect that a Tranny will now file suit in the Circus Court in order to achieve through the court system what they can not achieve through the legislature.
Same here. “Limits ban on prohibition” and it’s like looking in a funhouse mirror. Can’t figure out if this is good or bad news. So, are Asheville Lesbians happy or sad about this?
He should also reconsider his nomination of Gorsuch.
Joshua Goodbaum served as a clerk for Gorsuch in 2009, and now works as an attorney. He told Reuters on Friday that on the week of his 2014 wedding with his partner, Gorsuch expressed his support.
He said, This is a wonderful thing. Youll see how your relationship grows, Goodbaum recalled.
"Are you concerned that Neil Gorsuch belongs to a far-left church?"
" He belongs to a far-left church that embraces marriage redefinition, gun control, and the theory of man-caused global warming.
He belongs to St. John's Episcopal Church in Boulder, Colo., the Episcopal diocese of Colorado confirmed on Wednesday. Church bulletins show that the judge has been an usher three times in recent months. His wife Louise frequently leads the intercessory prayer and reads the weekly Scripture at Sunday services, and his daughters assist in ceremonial duties during church services as acolytes.
The first word that St. John's uses to describe itself on its website and Facebook page is "inclusive," and the church is led by a female rector. On its website, the church encourages members to write letters to Congress asking for actions addressing climate change."

Can’t expect clarity if they’re confused about gender.
If the director of the National Center for Transgender Equality condemned Trump’s action, it must be good.
Those who chop their dicks off or try to graft one on, are mentally disturbed and deserve no special privileges.
