US ex-marine Steven Gern was fired from his job in Iraq and sent home after he uploaded a Facebook video supporting US President Donald Trump's temporary ban on citizens of seven countries entering the US.

The ban was instituted to prevent potentially dangerous people from entering the country before there was an efficient way to vet them properly.

Gern's video, which includes a description of what local Iraqis would do to any American they found, got 44 million views on Facebook.

"So here I am, on my way out of here," Gern said in a YouTube video. "Obviously they didn't waste..time getting me out of the country... Currently I've been locked out of Facebook. I'll probably never be able to come back here to Iraq again, but I'm happy with that."

Later, on the plane, he said, "Apparently it wasn't safe for me to remain in the location I was in."

“US ex-marine Steven Gern was fired from his job in Iraq and sent home...”

Who exactly fired him?

“He put himself and his co-workers in extreme danger.”

How so? State your case.

There is no such thing as an ex-Marine. There are Marines, retired Marines, and Marine veterans; but they are and shall ever be Marines.

True, Vet. I feel every bit as loyal to the Corps as I did before going to Vietnam in 1968.

Well, personally I would say that he being a contractor he was not in a position to make such a commentary while under employment given the assumed specifics of his responsibilities. I don’t blame him but it was ill advised to do it while under contract. Now he has jeopardized his future with government contracts and private firms now know he will make public commentary without authorization. I hope he can work something out for his future.

From what I’ve always heard; no such thing as an EX MARINE.

Seems to me, this guy proved it.

Used to be a regular guest at the home of a fellow who did 3 tours in Vietnam with the USMC. He would say, “you can take the boy out of the Marines, but you can’t take the Marines out of the boy.”

Your comment makes sense. Thanks, I had not thought of it that way. (Guess he had not either.)

Yep. There’s a strict social media policy that is signed to keep guys/girls from doing things like this while deployed on contracts. He knew it. Seen many get the “window or aisle” comment when terminated for this very thing.

If you saw his video there would be no mistaking him if you saw him on the streets........Unless the bad guys were armed (and they usually are over there), he wouldn’t have anything to worry about.

.
Are you some kind of loon?

He admitted his mistake, and admitted that he feared for his own safety, as well as the whole group.
